AirAsia says a passenger jet with 162 people on board lost contact with air traffic control, Sunday morning.
The airline released a statement, after the plane disappeared following takeoff between Indonesia and Singapore.
Major news sources are reporting search and rescue efforts have been halted for the night.
Officials say before communication was lost, one of the pilots requested to fly at a higher altitude because of bad weather.

I’m just staying away from that region its like the black hole for airplanes lately. They did say that that airline has a really shoddy safety record though
The real question for me is what do they plan to do with the planes?
F flying, if I can’t go by car or boat, then I’m not going. That is just to far up in the sky for me.
I remember as a kid I was terrified to fly but no…….first time my parents took me to europe to visit relatives we flew, second time same thing third time again flew……on the fourth trip I finally asked my dad why do we always go see them and they never come see us? he says that is because they are afraid to fly son……..
