This could be yours for just $1,299.00. It will save your fingers or you could just be smart and careful and save $1,200.00

Yea, I was going to do a little write up on TIA about the new saw. I love the idea, but I think the way the guy when around using the legal system to enforce his patent was kinda crazy. He wanted to ban saws that didn’t sell his system. Or you could get a track saw besides using a dado is there anything a track saw can’t do over a table saw for most people?
Yep most of the time it’s just a moment of not paying attention.not worth 1200. All though might not be saying that when missing a few digits.
build a push stick from scrap wood and save 1200 bucks.
also use your eyes when using a table saw to watch your fingers 😛

I have cut a many of dado’s with a router
I use my 2nd table saw for dados.
Sniped a cheap one on craigslist just for that application. Just takes to much time to change the blades all the time.
Im looking for a radial arm saw for dados but people are crazy what they want for used ones
I think they stopped making them because they had too many safety issues, and Sears was paying money for you to destroy you old craftsman used one. The other thing is the Mitersaw took the place of a radial arm for most people. Even though you could do more with a radial arm saw. I think you could get a couple 150 to 200 dollars if you sent the motor in to sears as part of the recall. So people would cash in on the old saw and buy something else than get the retrofit safety kit on craftsman radial arm saws.
It looks like they don’t have parts anymore and it’s only $100 dollars. Plus you can’t legally sell an item that’s been recalled.http://www.radialarmsawrecall.com/default.aspx
$1200 initially then $69 for a new brake and $50+ for a new blade each time someone trips it. Not worth it to me. Been using table saws since I was 10 years old. Only accidebt was in shop class when I was 13, had the stock kick back and smack me in the groin. Sawstop wouldn’t have helped.
it is a good idea but just far to much money…….
safety will trigger with moist lumber too….so make sure your lumber is dry or have a certain % – otherwise your project can get expensive 😛
That Sawstop guy being such an asshole really turned me off to the whole technology……..fuck that guy!
I hate people trying to force me o be safe. He has a lot of nerve
I didn’t hear the story – what is it all about?

He lobbied and whined for months and months trying to get various governments to require all table saws to be Sawstop equipped which would have drove the price of every table saw on the market to skyrocket.
The Gripper by Microjig is a much safer and cheaper alternative.

He though he had a killer app innovation on table sawes, but it was too expensive to make and license so all the companies that made table saws passed on the offer. I also heard but it could be bs if they did add it to their new saws it could increase their liability in lawsuits because whey didn’t they have it sooner. Talk about Saw Stop pops up a few times about legal things.
Half the price and a better saw

that guy is just crazy. just because he invented something new doesn’t mean that every saw has to have it.
agreed rego 😛
would be nice to see a cabinet table saw from bosch
At twice the price of a better saw like the Bosch 4100, the Sawstop will never take off. The dude created a good thing, but his obvious greed and desire to shove it up everyone’s ass just pisses me off.
If it was like $100-150 more per saw. I think I would eat the cost what he wants is just freaking crazy, but his prices are high because he can’t get the volume to bring the price down $1,300 on a saw from pictures that looks cheap I’m sorry it does is just way too much. Plus like I mentioned before track saws do most of the heavy table saw work now. They are just not marketed well at all. No in store displays or anything thing that. to explain the what its about.
it was all about dollar signs for him….that mofo
I think the saw stop creates a massive liability on its own. What if it doesn’t do its job just once?
Could probably do with one of those before I lose another finger, Ild agree tho it’s a steep price IMO.. Saying that you have to pay for your healthcare in the states…what’s the going rate for sewing a couple of fingers on? Haha
I wouldn’t want to know but technically a hospital has to treat you in an emergency situation. I don’t know how far they would go if you didn’t have insurance though they might leave you with a stump :(.
If you actually look inside a sawstop they are built like a tank to take the force of stopping the blade witch is a upside, another one is that I can buy them for a relatively good discount.

Scrap wood push sticks for the win. Cheap and easy to make.

i completely agree, but woodworkers who need very accurate cuts and make them very often will still use a tables for its speed and effectiveness.

i had no idea, but thats still not the reason i would never buy something like this, i get if your a professional cabinet maker doing hundreds of cuts a day, but as an amateur woodworker i could buy a drill press, planer, and a different brand of tablesaw all for the price of that sawstop
Track saws are gold for 4’x8′ sheets and other larger sheet goods. Cutting a sheet of 3/4″ plywood on a portable table saw by yourself is like wrestling a Kodiak bear, but a table saw is still my preferred tool for ripping

Also you don’t have the same repeatable accuracy with a track saw.
There’s a MASSIVE advertising campaign on Facebook right now. The page is named AttorneyOne. He’s pushing for a class action lawsuit for people injured by table saws since 2002 I bekieve. Hes a real prick. Read his responses to the posts. Everyone is bashing him for his frivolous lawsuit attempts and he pushed back beyond belief. I wouldn’t retain him just because of his attitude.
Here’s the web site.
Here’s the Facebook link…. Hopefully it works.

I fucking hate that guy!

I still remember the moment when I saw the video of him putting his own finger against a saw stop blade I have seen sleeping snails move faster, I feel like the best way to express the only way I would trust the guy is in the wise words of my good woodworking friend after he saw the video.
“So what he touched it with his finger the same speed that a sloth moves, I wont buy one until he cock slaps it while hanging out of a window of a Ferrari at 150 Miles per a hour.”

i thought the same thing his finger was very slow, unlike how it would be during a table saw accident

the guy is probably trying to push real hard, cause his patent is expiring soon.
