Good news!

I bought a van! Its not the vw caddy I wanted but it’s a Citroen nemo..Its probably the better choice mpg wise returning over 50mpg!

Bad news!

Managed to cut the top of my indeed finger off whilst racking it..

Absolutely hurt like hell but it could of been worse I surpose..

Plastic surgeon jobby sometime today, let’s hope I can still pull the trigger on the dcf895!

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

ah shit man – that looks nasty.

how did it happen?

Frain20Member since Feb 2014

Circular saw.. I’m right handed but was using my left as it was an awkward cut..major kickback I surpose..I’m deffinetly investing in some decent gloves from now on..

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

my gloves saved my forefinger too, when I used a angle grinder with a bigger wheel and no guard.

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

That doesn’t hurt does it. Been there done that.

comp56Member since Sep 2014

that sucks……..if it is one thing I have learnt over the years is power tools or any tools in general have a one way relationship, you can love em all ya want ……they don’t always love ya back…..

BK13Member since Nov 2013

Yikes!

ScoszkoMember since Oct 2014

Wow, that doesn’t look too good. Good luck in your recovery. At least it was only the tip and not to a knuckle.

DR99Member since Nov 2012

Ouch ๐Ÿ™ sorry to see that you got hurt. I know some circular saws and track saws in europe have riving knives for help with kickback. It’s not common at all in the usa except on table saws. That’s the one thing that scares me is a saw kicking back. A guy did a video about it on youtube and it was scary as shit.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

I had a kickback once on my table saw, but It was my own fault.

for my luck I was outside in the driveway – after it happened I never saw that piece again. it was gone, I looked for it in my whole frontyard.

it just disappeared ย

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Wow Frain that sucks bro!

Frain20Member since Feb 2014

Cheers fellas, still waiting on the operation at the moment..The nhs is good, but Ild sooner pay and get seen quicker..

BIGBEARJTMember since Oct 2014

dang that looks bad, for odd cuts that cant be avoided, i often used cordless saws, as the there isnt enough torque to have any major kickback. but ive had many close calls, was always wearing my PPE despite my experience with the tools, high quality gloves saved my fingers multiple times from saws and grinders.ย

Tough luck man, Hope you heal soon!!

Samuel L.Member since Sep 2014

Yea today I was talking to the wood shop teacher at my high school turns out 6 years ago a kid cut off all his 4 fingers at an angle losing all his pinky finger to the top of his index finger turns out I know the guys younger brother and you cant even tell that the guy ever got them cut off he was lucky it was a clean cut and they got him to the hospital in 2 hours where one of the best hand surgeons in the country practices he was back to school in a week and had full range of motion on his hand in 2 months and in the end the only thing he has are 4 scars and the school now has a saw-stop table saw.

DR99Member since Nov 2012

That’s a lucky sob!! My great grandfather lost a finger on a band saw. I still cant figure out how he did that one. I can’t really ask him he passed away many years ago.

That is the first time I have heard of a band saw taking off someones finger.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

man I cant imagine loosing any of my fingers………

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

loosing a finger on a bandsaw, man that must have been a slow cut.

frankiegarcia19Member since Jan 2014

Holy fuck! Holy fuck!! Hooe u recover soon.. And love to hear the stories, crazy stuff…

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I don’t remember the whole story but I always assumed it was from his table saw but it was the band saw. It’s so many years ago though I’m talking mid 90’s the last time I heard about it.

Hahaha yeah stumpy.one of the lads sent me a picture of his finger and put JEALOUS at the bottom lol ..There cutting the bone back and stitching it over..nice

ScoszkoMember since Oct 2014

Damn man, I hope that heals well. Looks like you might have a flat top finger, but that could be from swelling. These images should be put in every shop classroom.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Frain damn that looks like it hurts!!!!! I hope u heal quick bro

Frain20Member since Feb 2014

Frain20Member since Feb 2014

Lol, Result!!Don’t forget some pics Monday night then!

TylerDamaMember since Mar 2014

Here they are, to be honest they are very comfortable and breath well.I’m pretty rough on gloves so let’s see how they hold up.the only downside thus far is the same as any other fingerless gloves: you have clean hands but dirty fingers.

Here is a photo for Frain, just so you have an idea on how it will look on your hand.:-)
