I’ve been using a full size Ryobi fixed base router for everything, but find that in many situations when I’m doing a channel or something not on the edge of the piece, it’s overly cumbersome.
I’ve been eyeing this Makita for some time, but finally pulled the trigger today. With the included guide, I think it will be just the ticket.
I do plan to add the plunge base if needed. We’ll see how it works out.
hows the visibility? looks kinda dark. ive been wanting one of those kits, should have jumped on that deal a while ago that included the fixed and plunge bases.
great man – nice router you got there.
I own the bosch 1617EVSKP for about a year, but never used it so far lol
Congrats on the router conductor looks nice man I have a ridgid that Ive had for awhile now I will take pics when I get home later today
That’s a nice little router!!
nice having more than 1 router, I have several however I do a lot of routing…..fixed/plunge set x2 1 micro router, 1 work horse 3-1/4hp that stays in my table………..
3-1/4 hp wow that’s a beast man 😛
Nice router conductor. That out to do the trick.
I’ve had this for a couple yrs now and used a hand full of times

1-1/4 according to Makita’s website…
Looks good, Travis. It would be nice if you had one of the Bosch Colts to compare it to. I have access to an old Craftsman fixed base, so when I get around to buying a router, I will probably get one of the compact models. The Boch has caught my eye, but I’m not completely in love with it. (And I can’t justify a Festool, Chris, Carrol and NER…)
i was replying towards comp’s post 😛
i cant use the “quote” option here. just sucks

Why not?
I think ipads/tablets are limited to mobile versions of website….
i cant quote, paste or copy anything in here, i use internet explorer and cant do sh** lol
when i used firefox the other day it worked fine, but that program was kinda annoying with all the commercials – and after that i also had a virus
i can quote with my cellphone tho 😛
You can tap the body of the post and it should give you a quote option .
You should also have a full version option at the bottom of the screen.
i see the quote option, but nothing happens when i click on it.
either when i wanna paste something in the reply window

It’s really not. It’s sitting unrealistically low at the moment. At nomad depth visibility look to be fine.
Very nice!!

It was $99 at HD. The have refurbished models on eBay for $79 though. I seriously considered going that route.

Yea, both this and the Ridgid I was looking at featured soft start.
I’ll report back after I get to use it.
I have this makita router and i use it every chance i get.its lightweight and powerful in its class. Plus i like variable speed control
I was at a local hardware store this weekend Conductor and saw that router in a soured up kit with a plunge base. Really slick machine.
I’ve been using it everyday for over a week building my mom a primitive entertainment center for Christmas.
It’s perfect for what I needed and blows through the pine I typically use in my primitive projects.
As you can probably image, I build my shit first rate. Much stronger and much more attention to detail than the local primitive shops sell for rediculous money. The first entertainment center I built for Mrs. Conductor was too big for the new house, so she sold it to her best friend. I priced her $350 for as I had $300 in materials in it pluse 30 hours labor.
I didn’t think that was a bad price, but she acted like I was trying to fuck her and decided to find something comparable at a shop.
She called the next morning begging us to sell it to her. Said everything she found similar was $1200-$1500 and used a lot of plywood.
Shit like that is why I only build for Mrs. Conductor, my mother, and my mother in-law
But anyway, the router saved at least a hour per project. Worth it’s price IMO
Ha very nice conductor U gotta show us sum pics man and always take care of momma conductor as for that router I’ve been seeing some reviews on YouTube and when my ridgid goes out or I get some extra cash I would like to pick up the makita. Merry Christmas conductor family!!
