This poor guy was taken out by 1 pound tape measure falling 50 stories to the ground. He had the hard hat in the truck but wasn’t wearing it. Ways wear your PPE!!!
DAMN that sucks!!
I’m curious if a hard hat would have saved him. I was working around power transmission towers, and I figured that if one of the linemen dropped one of those 1-1/4″ bolts from 180′ it wouldn’t matter much. Dunno.
My father was a member of the hard hatters club, Dec 1963 a 6-1/2″ 5/8″ bolt fell from the 8th floor of a construction site and hit him right on the top of his head……..broke his hard hat but saved his life……he got a plaque and a gold hard hat ………(<not actual size)

Yeah, lucky! With my luck, the falling tape would miss my brain bucket and take out my collarbone!
