If i gonna get my L-boxx system or the ridgid tool box i need to buy some foam to lay them out for my tools
Also usefull for toolcarts.
www.fastcap.com -> Kaizen Foam
what you guys think ?
not sure I would want to protect my selection of plyers or tin snips in that way, I realize some things are a bit more sensitive and need protection but real estate is also important in a tool box
Check this place out they have good prices in the pick and pluck foam. It is cheaper than fastcap.
Some one said to watch what kind of foam you buy, but isn’t foam foam??!?1 It’s crazy that a piece of foam costs as much as a one of my ridgid cases.
there is a zillion and 3 different kinds of foam give or take a few and they can look the same but react different to cold, heat, oils, glues, paints ect ect especially around a tool box…..
true story: I was gluing a piece of foam with spray glue to cover a bench…..the foam was 1- 1/2″ thick used it 100 times before but the glue was a new can …….long story short the foam started to bubble and melt right in front of my eyes………wrong glue………grabbed a different type of spray glue and foam …..all was fine…..
ya makes sence with the different foam types….I just want something where I can put my tool in it….like a inlay for the box and that my for example drill fits snug in it

That’s what I want I just don’t want to pay crazy prices for it 🙂 I don’t know what foam the tool companies use for their foam inserts. Like in lboxxes and others
the l boxxes are designed for the inlays bosch has. or you can buy the bosch foams for 25 each.
but even those ones are pricy

the worst part is you buy a piece of form the you cut a 3rd or more out. This piece cost $15

You like the M18 Multi tool so far Regiopit? That’s why I’m debating even getting foam. I just like how everything sits though when you use it. I do like how organized it looks. Your also screwed if you want to change things. Man you have a lot of Milwaukee gear now Regiopit
ya rego – that’s the way to go

Yea I have a lot of red. I was really surprised by the Multi tool I have gotten some good run times with a 4.0 battery I’m very happy with it. I have made my mind up to just have one battery platform. I have been very happy with all of the Milwaukee tools I have gotten I still have some DeWalt tools that I like but Milwaukee will be my got to.
That Dewalt cordless framing nailer is really nice. I like that Milwaukee has most of the tools I want covered but it sucks I don’t see Milwaukee releasing a nailer anytime soon. Milwaukee is marketed towards the trades. i heard some bad things about the M18 multi glad that it was bs.
I love the dewalt cordless framing nailer. I wish they would release the finish nailers soon.
3 new empty lboxx’s in my shop – now i have to come to a conclusion which foam i gonna buy
some cordless finish and brad nailer would be great – like Ryobi
hoepfuuly soon
they should have started with those ones as soon as someone else released them
I’ve used Kaizen foam quite a bit and like it. I’ll try to dig up some pictures later
that would be great man
the sander sits in kaizen that i shaped to support it
router bit case, has gotten much fuller since this pic but it works well, i have recently ditched the bosch guides to make room for more bits, i dont use the silver bosch bushings anymore because my bosch stays in a table now… i still keep the brass bushings in there
i have actually ditched this setup entirely since i got the carvex but it worked well when i used it
Festool LR32 set and related bits.. i didnt buy the whole kit with systainer from festool, just the parts i knew i would use. i have added some of my own edge guides to this case now
festool HL850 planer and accessoriies, the stock insert didnt fit well with the angle fence and extra cutter head i have so i made my own.
i have a few more cases that i really need to do but have been uptting off for a while. it definetly takes a little bit of time and thought to plan everything and cut it out nicely but its worth it in the end i think.
They look lwell taken care. I like what u did with the foam.
NER love ur set ups man very organized!!
I think that’s how it suppose to look like when you are a contractor/ carpenter and you take your work serious and work organized
Well said madman.
NE, how do you like your HL850? I’ve been eying that for a while now!
Chad, bigmike, madman.. thanks for the kind words guys! I definitely believe in being organized.. it makes jobs go so much smoother and quicker. It also makes it easy to identify if a tool is missing when we’re packing up.
It’s a never ending thing to me though, I’m always adding or tweaking get my setup.
Eventually I’ll try to do a post that walks through my trailer and all my different setups

It’s a great planer, not something I use everyday but nice to have when I need it.. I love the fact that the cutter is flush with the right side allowing unlimited depth rebates or getting right up to an adjacent surface.
it’s got plenty of power and produces a great finish
takes a little getting used to to eliminate snipe (like a bit deeper cut at the beginning or end of the cut) due to the fact that it’s a little bigger and heavier
I bought it to make a replica hand hewn beam for a customer (which turned out awesome) and allowed me to cover the cost of the tool.
Not sure what your needs are but if it’s to surface a lot of lumber for woodworking projects you might be better off with a smaller piece of stationary equiplent. I don’t do much at all of that type of work
I so wanted to get my hands on the Festool planer, just could never justify cost. I ended up going with the dewalt planer. It’s good, but it can’t do what the Festool can do.
