Ridgid professional tool storage system tool boxes

I was able to collect all four of ridgid’s newest to boxes. They have a standalone 25″ tool tube and the 22″ professional storage system of three modular tool boxes

In this video I go over the features of the tool boxes. So far I really like them and the prices are very affordable.

Nice review bro!

Awesome job Javier!

DR99Member since Nov 2012

The only problem I have with them is that I wish they were red not orange 🙂 At that price point and how nice they are I can deal with that 🙂

woodstockvaMember since Mar 2014

I saw the round one at Home Depot today….pretty unique design!  I like that there is a lot of storage space under the tray & it is not recessed inside the bottom portion.

Thanks Javier, just what i was looking for. Great review.

Have you put any weight in them and used it over curbs / thresholds? How strong is the “luggage” handle?

Are they comparable to Tstak in thickness/quality?

Thanks for answering my questions.

Thanks Jeremy

I loaded the pro cart and it did well over curbs- probably with 30-40 lbs

The telescoping handle itself seems solid although there is some play at the joints but nothing to affect performance

I haven’t seen tstaks in person so I can’t really compare the two

To bad HD doesn’t sell them (tstaks) instore because I did want to check them out before

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Yea Javier that sucks that HD doesn’t carry them in stores I bet they would sell better.

Nice review!

I was just able to pick mine up from the local HD. They are really well built. My only compaint so far is the metal they use to join the hinge isn’t capped off. I kinda scraped myself earlier moving them around and caught myself on it, and it could slide out over time separating the hinge. I might see if a rubber tip will go over the edge or some kinda crimp. I also have to check what the warranty is on these.

JavierMember since Aug 2013

Good to see you were able to get a hold of them. I had to take a look a mine to check the hinges and I wouldn’t worry about the pins sliding out as they can’t since part of it bends in the middle for the lid stop. Mine don’t stick out much or at all so maybe you can sand the edges down with a dremel or cut it off.

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I will double check tomorrow when I start filling them with tools 🙂 I think I might need another rolling base though to hold Everything Like I want too.  I will have to see how loading tools tomorrow starts going. I might either try and sell my tool bags or have the great tool bag giveaway 2014 on the TIA forum. It won’t be the same as the UTB 🙂

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

FINALLY had a chance to stop by HD and check these out today and I gotta say if I didn’t already invest into the Dewalt system I would’ve jumped into these Rigids there very nice and price on them is great, I also looked at the Milwaukee ones and really didn’t wow me like the Rigids did don’t get me wrong they were nice also but no stacking system just kills it. Javier I saw that my HD is carrying the tough boxes like u said and I almost bought the small lone Ds150 I believe but my wife would have killed me there on the spot lol! 50 BUCKS MAN!! hopefully they will go a lil down for the holidays………hopefully…

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

those are some nice storage systems, but the tube is just weird

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I was able to get a good number of my tools out of hard cases and tool bags. It’s really nice I think I might pick up another bottom and small case. just to have them if I get any bare Milwaukee tools later on.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

I checkt them out today at my local home depot – they finally got them and I have to say they are awesome.

I’ll wait until the holidays and i hope they gonna have a special on them 😀

i played around with them in the store, stacked them up, used the card – and they are really tough and weather sealed

That would suck if that’s the case. If they are hopefully I can get a price adjustment!!! I don’t think you can get a better modular box for the price. I bought some silica gel packets to toss in the boxes to keep moisture under control just to make sure 🙂

T-stacks wile nice are more like l boxes in construction.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

ya i would toss them in too – cant go wrong with that.

those boxes are really sturdy – i def gonna get them. all 3 😀 ( not the tube one haha )

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

ya 200 bucks just for that cart is insane

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

I love the tough boxes DR I don’t think I will be getting the cart anytime soon…. those rigid boxes are cool I noticed a lil flex movement but nothing that would stop me from getting a set in the future 😉

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

where did you see a flex ?

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

On the smaller box now don’t get crazy bro it was just a lil bro…;)

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

hahaha

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

Nicely done Javier!

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I wish I took a picture of before how things were which was horrific and how things look now. Short term I want a new wheeled base and one more small storage case. I would like to get 2 two more small cases in the long run. Next is organizing the garage! I need to figure out what to do with my Ryobi tools.

you know you want to get the ridgid tool boxes. Would be great if they were on sale this holiday so I can get more to keep up with DR99 but by then he’ll probably have 20 of them
DR99Member since Nov 2012

It’s getting hard to find them especially the small ones. Also they only have like one of the cart ones at most stores. I think this took off more than HD expected. It’s a good deal. No one else has a system that nice for this much money. The the Dewalt tough box get smoked by the fact you need that expensive cart and its pretty limiting on how many Dewalt tough boxes you can carry. You could load a bunch of small boxes on one big cart if you wanted to. Dewalt T-staks aren’t must better the one cart is $44 and the dolly is $130 they do have more choices in boxes and they are cheaper though the t-staks

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

at my local store I saw 3x carts, 6 small and 4 medium and just 1 tube 😀

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Javier what’s up bro hey thanks for the hat bro!! And yea man I’m getting a lil itch to wanna get them. Lol!! But hopefully HD will have these on holiday sale also I know they are already have great prices but one can only hope right!!

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

you could actually buy them now and see if they will go on sale during holidays….if yes, then you can bring them back (because of your 90-day policy) because I don’t think they do price adjustments or give you the money back…so easier is, return them and buy some new ones “if” they are on sale

Your lucky they are all spread out at different stores right now if you want different sizes. It might change as they restock though. I think a lot of people are buying them in the Detroit area at least

You don’t need that fancy sanchy cart HF hand truck I have the Big Foot 49.99

[External image (i856.photobucket.com), not copied]

Or you can get the 600 lb. Capacity Extra Wide Hand Truck $100

I didn’t even know you had the tough boxes set up that way regiopit. Harbor Freight is > than Dewalt on the Cart this time. I’m sorry 189 is crazy for any cart.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

I like your set up Regopit very smart man!

Hey we all know what HF is all about but sometimes it’s the best alternative. Some people will pay but I’m not one of them.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

ya that’s a smart solution to roll your boxes around

I would be willing to spend like 100/120 on the tough box cart,  And around 60 on the T-staks

what u think about this one: Dewalt DWST20800

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I have seen it before they also have a Stanley version of that container too. I worry about the metal on the back, and the wheels. I think about long term durability. It could be great I don’t have personal experience just what I saw at the store.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

i just found it when i searched for the tough box cart

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

they had that one last time I went it looked like a real cool concept but eh…

madman_us wrote:

I noticed hd replaced the area where they had the stanley fatmax version with the new ridgid boxes and dewalt tough boxes. I haven’t seen the dewalt in person but I liked the fatmax version which is the same thing it seems. I almost got it too but didn’t because it wasn’t modular so lets say I only needed the bottom box- well I had to carry the whole thing because they don’t disconnect but I think its a great triple tool box system. Its actually a lot like the ridgid 3 box system if you think of it, a large rolling cart on the bottom, a medium tool box on top and in the center has the organizer with bins and is actually cheaper too. fatmax =$80 dewalt =$90 vs ridgid set about $130.
