nailer or stapler for window repair

I would appreciate it if an experienced window repairman would reply. I’ve got a lot of rotten wood in my windows. I’m going to replace with vinly composite molding. Should I use a 2″ staple gun or nail gun.

I not experienced, but I have hung over 50 windows in the past couple of years. It really doesn’t matter, they both will hold. I use the nail gund. Just my preference.
