I’m quite the bargain hunter (i’m almost cost neutral with all my Dewalt and Bosch 18V gear).
But this is one of my favourite pickups. I drove to a guy’s house to pick up his Dewalt DW708 (12″ SMCS) for only $180, and walked away with a Dewalt DW705 (12″ non-sliding) for an even $200! To put that in perspective, the DW780 costs AU$950 here in Aus.
The 705 has a sticky trigger and the 708 has a cracked clamshell trigger housing and plastic plate.
But I’m stoked. I’ve never owned a 12″ MCS before!
Wow, you must be a happy man after getting that deal!!! Parts shouldn’t be too bad to fix them up.
replacement switch is about $25 here in the States
I happen to love a good deal, and you my friend got a great one!! Nice score
That was a smoking deal Dwain, congratulations dude!
Great snag Dwain!
hehe, thanks guys. I sold the DW705 for $50 to a guy who already had a couple of broken ones, since it wasn’t worth fixing in the end. So the DW708 cost me $150, which I’ve been really enjoying 🙂
That’s still a sweet deal
Hell of deal dwain, that’s how u have to do it man!
Dude I just found a helk of a deal too! Kinda unrelated to yours. I was at an auction for a hardware store going out of business and nothing caught my eye. So I thought I would scourer the neighborhood looking for garage sales. I found this guy selling a 1 yr old craftsman 28″ snow blower going for $375, This guy was retired from the Ford Motor Company. I asked him why he would sell something brand new. He said Im filthy rich and I just want the latest and greatest. He even waxes all of his equipment I talked him down to $300 after I googled what a new one went for ($900). It starts every time on the first pull! Bring it IL Weather!!!
good catch man – that was a really great deal
Nice pick up! I am a bargain hunter too. Nice job
its hard to say no when you see a good deal out there
u gotta be calm and patient to be a bargain hunter but its all worth it at the end
true – or you keep watching for weeks and you find nothing, then you stop watching for a couple days and then the item comes online
i just replaced the kerf plates and claimshell handle on the DW708. Feels brand new :),

You just find people like that in life. They make a ton on money but don’t really care either about basic finances. They just want something new and shiny all the time. A snow blower is usually a long term investment.
Man, nothing is better then scoring a good deal! Recently I picked up a still I package Klein knockout set(normally around 300) for 100 even.
A lot of people get nervous when they see something broken. They tend to walk away, however most of the time it’s a rather in expensive fix.
Great deal you got there 😀
nice tyler – the saved money can go into a another tool 😀
That’s a pretty sweet deal. Even I’m jealous and I thought I was the king of deals.
