Can I connect a charger directly to a cordless drill?

I’m going to be using the motor from a cordless power drill for a home theatre project (remote-controlled rotating TV), but I would much rather have constant power supply and not have to mess with the batteries. The reason I am using a cordless drill is for the 2-speed gearbox (i need low rpm w/ more torque) and the autobrake. My question is this:

Can I wire the contacts from the charger directly to the switch on the drill to bypass the battery? If not, what would be the problem/result of this? thanks for your help.

Personally I would use a two stage motor that is built for that. The connectors on a drill are not made to withstand that much use. You can by pass and wire as you said, but you will get corrosion and could even start a fire very easily. Persoanally they make motors for this idea you speak of. I would spend a couple of extra bucks and get something better

I agree with you. There are plenty of motors out there for what you want to do. I wouldn’t risk the chance of a fire.

I agree with everyone else. It can be done, but is the risk worth it.

As said above there are motors and switch gear made for this application.

Yea, sounds pretty risky to me.
