For the last few months, when depressing the switch all the way, the drill would begin to turn, but either at a very reduced speed or at full speed. If I kept the switch pushed in and it was at a very slow speed, within a few seconds or so, the drill would suddenly kick up to full speed.
Sounds like the variable speed has gone out. I would take it to the service center nearest you and get it taken care of.
What model of drill is it? Roughly how old is it?
