OK, I know they fit but I was looking at the Battery while at HD and it appears that the “foot” on the new drill is much smaller than that on my older model. Is this correct?? The reason I ask is I’m concerned about stuff getting snagged on the extra plastic of my old drill or it breaking off during the normal small drops and falls that can occasionally occur.  The model number is DW988

They did shorten the “foot” to avoid the overhang w/ lithium batteries. The drill shell is pretty durable, I don’t think you’ll break it off.

Cool Thanks.

Couldn’t you also just order a “bare tool” from DeWalt and not even have that issue? That would be my solution…if you don’t mind droppin a few more dollars. New tool- New batteries!!
