Hello everyone,
I inherited a table saw from my father. He used it on weekends for his side business, its only a couple years old and in good shape. I’m absolutely certain it was working while he was alive. However, a few months has passed and when I try to start it does nothing. I tested the switch and it didn’t seem to be working (safety mechanism is still there/working though). That’s fine…I bypassed by sending AC 110v to the red/black wire (there is also a white wire that I don’t know what it does because the plug only has two wires on it) and the motor just buzzes like its stalled out. I have no idea what’s going on. I guess I just find it hard to believe that this machine somehow has a failed switch and motor in the last couple months with zero usage.
I would appreciate any thoughts. I’m stumped.
Sounds goofy but if it has been sitting a bit and the motor just hums, I would tape the motor with a rubber mallet. I had a buddy with the same issue. He moved, put some of his tools in storage and grabbed them out 6 months ladder. His table saw would not turn on and just made a humming noise. He said hit tapped on it with a rubber mallet and something broke free and has been using it ever since.
