I havent been able to find much info online about it, including model #, but i did get to use one recently at a dewalt day at a local building supply. Hopefully Dan and Eric will review it when they get ahold of it. From my limited use of it I think I like it. Its a bit heavier than the paslode but as for power I would call it comperable. finally the price the rep told me was 500 which was a little steap especially since earliest delivery was thanksgiving.
Anyways if someone has had more use with it or has some specs please chime in.
Are you in the USA or Canada? From what I have read they aren’t releasing the framing nailer till sometime in in 2014. There were some video’s about it earlier this year then I haven’t seen much posted after that.
It sounds cool, but that is a big price. Would like to compare it against the Paslode.
Tool Skool somehow got ahold of one.
Im located in western North Carolina, and im just going off of what the dewalt rep told me. He claimed that it would be delivered by thanksgiving but I do remember him saying official release wasnt till 2014. I was actually offered to purchase the gun at dealer cost because im good friends with the store owner but since our construction company already owns 5 or 6 paslode framing guns we just couldnt justify it.
That’s cool I was just kind of shocked they were saying that to you about getting the tool that soon. If the gun is as good as they say it is it’s going to hurt Paslode. It can bump fire and won’t have the issue paslode impulse guns have with cold weather, and the cost of fuel cells plus the cells expire too. This has the potential to replace a compressor in production framing. The only issue I could see is the size of the nail magazine. I have the paslode lion framer It might be tempting to jump on the Dewalt train just for the framer.
Did you get a chance to pick the nailer up and fire a couple shots?

Yep, it shot well, I really liked the bump fire. power was good, it sunk a 16d nail below the surface into two 2×4’s. the weight seemed to be a little heavier than a paslode but thats just from feel. the only real down side was the price but i do believe it comes with two 4ah batteries and a charger, not sure about a case though.
Was there any delay after pulling the trigger?

somewhat but nothing that noticable. by no means is it as fast as a neumatic nailer in trained hands but for the lack of a hose its worth it.
Like a musket compared to a cartridge rifle.
I want a Senco fusion finisher
The Senco is nice, but they are having some problems with there batteries and not sure if it’s fixed yet. Some of their batteries are not holding a charge
Any body tryed the makita finishing nailer ?
But for the price i mite get to ryobi airstrike look good
My friend has the Ryobi airstrike its pretty nice for the money. I would almost trade in my Paslode finish nailer. it’s that nice but not being an angled nailer is a deal breaker I might get it to complement my collection though.
Tanks dr99
it was just added to dewalt’s website. i was wrong about the batteries though, it only comes with one 4.0
http://www.dewalt.com/tools/cordless-nailers-dcn690m1.aspx
its also available as a bare tool which might be more tempting since i already have a few batteries.
The air strike is really nice, but try it before you trade in the Paslode.
I have bought one and it is fantastic, no gas, no smell, bump fire works up to 65mm nails no problem, and the batteries last ages. 🙂
Pleased to report that the Dewalt is still going strong. I got it with two 4.0ah batteries and have yet to have a jam, or a nail not go all the way in.
Very reliable, no set up time, no hoses, no compressor to lug around and no smelly expensive time sensitive gas to buy. It’s a win win win.
Battery life has not been an issue as the second battery has been ready to go by the time the first is ready to charge,
One other thing I found is the consistent way it drives the nails, first to last they all seem to go the depth you have set. I have found with gas nailers that this can vary greatly with the amount of gas in your canister, the temp, and the age of your gas canister.
None of which is an issue with the Dewalt.
Great tool and very glad I bought one.
Just pull your finger out Dewalt and bring out a finish nailer on the same battery platform.
That would sell in the truck load.
Welcome back Wayne! Glad to hear the nailer is going strong. How long have you had it?
Long time no see wayne, thanks for the b-day wishes on Facebook!
No worries guys have been using the nailer roughly for 6 months and it is brilliant.
My only gripe is that they have failed to bring out a finish nail version on the same battery platform.
I was using mine yesterday at work, I love this thing! Totally awesome
Yea you would think they would have had a finish nailer to go with the 20v line by now. It’s a gripe alot of Dewalt fans have they can’t switch over 100% to the 20v lineup. I wonder now that ever one has the slide pack style batteries we won’t see a change for awhile in battery connector types? Dewalt was the last big holdout.
That’s why I have three main battery platforms no one manufacturer has the tools I need at the quality I need on the job site.
The Dewalt is a great tool no doubt 🙂
This is what drives me crazy with DeWalt. After the last few day using my Pasload and pissing me off the cold, bad gas I stated to look at the DeWalt. you go to some sites they have the DCN692M1 others have the DCN690M1 or both same price so now it take more time to find out what the differences are as little as they are. This day has been a pain in the ass.

Could have just asked me!

Okay I’m asking What is the differences. Thanks for the help
All I know is mine works brilliantly and have had not a single problem.
Just fill the nails up and keep going.
And also if you have access to your charger 2 batteries will last you all day because one always lasts longer than it takes to re-charge the other using 4ah batteries.

This link describes it pretty well.
Cliff Notes:
“One of the DCN692′s speed settings is optimized for driving shorter nailers (2″ to 3″ long), while the other should be used when driving longer nails (3-1/4″ to 3-1/2″ long). When used in the full-power and full-speed setting, the DCN692 will perform similarly to the DCN690 framing nailer.
When the DCN692 is used in its lower speed/power setting mode, users will benefit from lower vibration (and thus lower fatigue), increased application speed, and an increase in the number of nails that can be fired per battery charge.”
Pretty crazy that Dewalt released a revised model so quick after the originals release in the USA that kinda surprised me. Even though Europe had the original model out for over a year.
This gun intrigues me more and more every time I see it.
So I need to ask you guys if anyone else out in the world has any problems with the DCN690/DCN692? Here in Finland almost every gun seems to fail after about one year of intensive usage. I spoke to a local repair guy and he told me since there has been so many units returned for warranty service, almost every one they sold in the country seems to have problems. Does our units come from another factory and equipped with cheaper components than others or what could be the explanation?
My old framing crew i worked with we had stupid dewilt nerfgun for back framing amd it sucked balls heavy and picked at choosed when to work and we the boss got it fix it worked ok but still id pick a paslode over that hunk of garbage anydayMoitas wrote:

Sad to hear you had such a bad experience with the Dewalt gun. I loved the one I used as long as it worked fine. Sure, it may be a bit bigger and bulkier than a Paslode an certainly a air nailer, but the convenience not to worry about hoses or gas makes me pick it over the other two any day. Until it sadly gives up after a year. Sh*ttorontotoolman wrote:

Well, you still have to pay for the gas even if it comes with the nails. If I use a non-gas nailer I don’t go buy a paslode box with nails (and gas).torontotoolman wrote:

For me the job gets done almost twice as fast with a cordless nailer compared to a pneumatic so for me it’s a no brainer. I’m not saying that’s the case for everyone. Just trying to explain my situation and frustration with the DCN690.
Oh and for me gas is a problem. In the winter I always have to keep them warm to get the job done.
i love the cordless paslode framers, but the price of the fuel cells is getting ridiculous.
can the dewalt keep up? i use my paslodes to frame whole buildings. will the dewalt be able to also? anybody have both who could compare?
I’ve been using my Dewalt all day. Still love it. Gotta use the 4.0 and 5.0s though…..it eats up the 3.0s!

Got to use mine for the 1st time this week although I purchased it 3 months ago, just hadn’t the work for it till now. Worked a treat installing a flatroof.
If your an acrual framer i dont think the dewalt cordless is a good pick but thats just me no where near the power of a pnuematic or a paslode im a framer aswell and ya i would never buy oneframer wrote:

Toronto Tool is correct, if you are framing houses all day, the cordless framer is not the tool for you. It wasn’t designed for that.

The springs inside the tool have to be replaced every 30K – 50K shots. It’s easy to do in the field. See this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPa_Oar5ZyQ

people said the same thing about the paslodes, but i proved them wrong. lol
i stopped using air nailers back when the orange paslodes came out. and never had any desire to start dragging hoses around again.
