ChrisK won the impact. As a staff member I’m not eligible for the giveaways.

Speaking of ChrisK……I need to give him a shout. I miss him. He was always a hoot.

Yeah, I wonder where he went?

I always wonder why Porter Cable started a 20v line….

Truth be told, I’m sure they’re using the same cells as the Dewalt packs. The 20V is still 18V, they just used the 20V to distinguish them from the previous models. I’m sure PC was the same principle.

Ahh, didn’t even think of that oops.

The PC 20v line was to give a more professional grade cordless tool. The 18v PC line sold at Lowes is supposed to compete with Ryobi.

Chris where the hell are you Bud??????

Yea, a lot of people bought the 18V PC line thinking they were getting the PC of old. Didn’t work out 😆 The 20V stuff seems to be on par with Ridgid.

I sent him a PM. I’ll let everyone know if I hear back 🙂

Yea the Kobalt line of power tools they launched a few years ago seems to have been an epic fail. You don’t hear anything about it.

They didn’t market them well at all and they’re a drab grey with no cosmetic appeal at all. They entered an already crowded inventory at Lowe’s to top it off.

DR99Member since Nov 2012

Home Depot does a fairly good job with promoting Ridgid. Plus the have been expanding the lineup they added an 18v jobmax, grinder, and jigsaw. I really liked the tools Rigid had out I ended up returning it because of the the lack of additional tools also. Then I bought into the Dewalt 20v max and the same thing happened where are the bare tools to add on to my kit?

I noticed Makita has a new end cap display at my HD yesterday. No new tools, just a new display.

I wish we would see the more tools from that line!

I noticed the same thing about a month ago it was where the ryobi tek4 display was. It didn’t surprise me the tek4 line never seemed to be popular.

You got that right! Who would buy the tek4 screwdriver when you could get the M12 fuel milwaukee screwdriver and have a lot more going for you at around the same size! I have heard the M12 screwdrivers are some of the most used tools in the trades.

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

Yea, the type of people that buy specialty tools aren’t typically the type of people that buy Ryobi.

That was a really good movie by Ryobi it allows DIY’ers to be able to do trim at a cheap cost and without the hassle of a compressor. The tex4 line had some cool little things, but for the most part it wasn’t marketed at all and was expensive for some of the things like the mp3 player and digital camera smart phones have dominated that. They also had a similar line for craftsmen that had a few things the tex4 line didn’t have like a small rotary tool, some powered snips, and soldering iron.

Enjoy it, as you can see Porter cable just expanded there 20v line…

Just got the Drill/Driver today and it looks awesome. I am giving it to my parents who seem to always want to use my M12 stuff. It is a drastic upgrade over their 10 year old 18v Black and Decker and their Dewalt 9.6v that is so old that the drill itself is green. Thanks again tools in action, drill is sweet, my dad gets a new drill upgrade, my tools will be left alone, and I get a free lunch.
