I was given an older DeWalt DW914-XE drill driver without battery and charger. I am not sure if I can get an exact replacement, but is it possible to find an equivalent generic battery and charger that would be suitable? I am not sure how old the model is. Thanks in advance.
You can, they are allover the place. Just search Google. I would still go with an OEM battery.
