DeWalt has a New 20v Rotary Hammer on the lines,

Heres the differences between the previous 20v rotary hammer: Note: This has the same power as the previous model, Dewalt, you really boggle my mind

This has vibration control, led light, 4.0 battery, It has not been clarified by DeWalt if brushless, IMO its not because the power is the same as the previous model.

I cant figure them out…. Are they following Milwaukee in continuing the Brushed line?

MozeMember since Jun 2012

I use the current 20v version every week and it’s not uncomfortable at all to use, so curious how much the vibration control helps. The current versions also lasts a long time on one 3Ah battery. So my guess is the new one is brushless. That combined with the 4.Ah battery would make a nice little package. I can’t see spending the extra to upgrade, but if I were in the market, I suppose it would be in the running.

At work we have some of the new Dewalt electric jackhammers with the anti vibration handle that absorbs shocks and let me tell you it makes a huge difference, we were using one the other day and it was night and day compared to all the other ones we used before

Those must have cost a pretty penny!

I imagine the company can afford it lol very nice though beats the pants off everyone we ever used before

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

Nicest one I ever used was a Hilti. My dad borrowed it from his employer for a big driveway repour about 10 years ago. It was a beast!

The hilti’s we used worked great but they didn’t provide the comfort like the Dewalt does

Just read in some Dewalt catalogs the hammer is brushless

That’s pretty cool. Are they recently brushless, or have they always been?

firefighter4187Member since Mar 2013

My guess is the next round of Brushless from Milwaukee will include a 7/8 hammer, jig saw, hackzall and some other things, what do you guys think?

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I would assume so on the SDS drills even though I don’t think Milwaukee is a huge player in that market. It seems like Bosch. Makita, and Hilti even Dewalt I think sells more concrete tools. I don’t like the big 18V hackzall it’s too big to use with one hand. If im honest I think Dewalt has the best 12v recip saw hopefully milwaukee does something similar when they update the M12 hackzall.

I agree the M18 Hackzall is ridiculous, They are always innovative, you never know what they will do to it, I kind of like the Makita 12v with the to buttons.

07SierraMember since Jul 2013

I agree it looks huge, the end closest to the blade looks way to big to put your hand around

DR99Member since Nov 2012

Funny thing is the M18 hackzall gets great reviews on Home Depot’s web page. I hear the best reciprocating saw is the Makita AVT corded saw that’s one thing I would have liked to have seen on the new Milwaukee sawzall.

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

The M12 Hackzall is perfect and I prefer the true 1 hand design of the Milwaukee/Bosch over the Dewalt/Makita design. That being said, the M18 adaption is indeed too big.

If I wanted a folding Sawzall I’d get a Milwaukee Hatchet. They’re still around. Probably have to go electric though.

kinkaidMember since Oct 2013

great I just got the previous model back in May. Oh well. I can say I love the this tool. Bought it to  put in some anchors into a concrete patio for a future outdoor kitchen. Not too many changes. I was busting some leftover pavers to see how this compared to my BD hammer drill….I will never use a hammer drill again for concrete or stone 🙂

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

I feel your pain. I bought my M18 kit about a month before they announced the Fuel line. To this day I don’t own a Fuel tool. Using obsolete brushed tools hasn’t killed me yet 😆

DR99Member since Nov 2012

The cam operated hammer drill is great for doing the occasional tapcon or something similar. If I had to do a lot of concrete drilling I would invest in a SDS drill. I not sure which way I would go corded or cordless. I would like to see how the harbor freight sds drill works and holds up.

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

HF and power tool in the same sentence makes me nervous 😆

DR99Member since Nov 2012

Yea I’m just curious if its even 1/2 way decent. HF seems to do ok on some power tools others are pretty damm scary though also. That’s the problem with HF if their was a known consistency on their stuff.

Where is the light on this one?

I believe it’s on the front base of the tool, but don’t quote me on that.

Gatorb888Member since Nov 2013

FYI guys, the new SDS Hammer is not brushless. The upgrades were mainly to the shocks on the tool and better ID calling out the anti vibe feature. I also believe they increased BPM a little and now it comes with the 4.0ah battery instead of the 3.0ah.

If you are not aware, almost all Dewalt tools have a 1 year free service guarantee. The only exception is hammer drills that feature SHOCKS “Anti Vibration Control”. Drills with shocks have a 2 year warranty. That includes the new cordless 20v SDS hammer (DCH253).

All corded hammers have a shock and non-shock version. For example: D25213K – No Shocks (1 year warranty) & D25223K – Shocks (2 year warranty)

Otherwise they are the same tool.

Hey we have a dewalt employee on here now, i guess he is here to moderate us Milwaukee guys haha!

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

Well so long as no makita employees come here we will be fine:).

Gatorb888Member since Nov 2013

Hope you don’t mind, I’ve been posting over at DewaltOwnersGroup for a couple years. Figured I would pop in over here too.

Joe MMember since Apr 2013

I know I sold a general contractor the Milwaukee corded rotatary hammer for chipping off tile, he said it didn’t work well at all. I ended up swapping out the Dewalt Rotatary hammer and he loves it.

Thank god, someone should lol

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

Welcome Gator! You are most certainly welcome here. I’m the Cheif of the “rag on Dewalt” gang, but it’s mostly about the yellow color. I’d love to see black tools with yellow trim.

If you guys make a 12v pop rivet gun, you will be conductors best friend

Gatorb888Member since Nov 2013

Thanks for the welcome Conductor562, I agree, I’ve always thought switching the yellow and black on the tools would look pretty cool. Probably not going to happen because of branding/marketing but how about some special edition all black/yellow trim tools? Neat idea.

ChaseRodgers – I haven’t heard of anything yet! sorry!

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

Hey chase I am pretty sure that they make air ones as well. Let conductor know.

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

There are lots of air riveters on the market, but the only cordless options are from Marson and the like and they are crazy expensive for someone not riveting everyday.

The mechanics would be similar to Milwaukee’s force logic press, so I don’t feel like I’m asking for a lot here, lol

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

Never thought of that. Let’s spam milwaukee and see if they will lol.

I’ve emailed them several times. No luck yet. Perhaps we could step up our game a bit?

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

I would be interested in one for the right price.

I believe Milwaukee could put on to market in the sub $200 range for the bare tool. I’d pay that for one.

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

I would as well depending on the size of it.
