I just got the cordless trimmer and the string breaks off inside the spool every 5-10 feet. Tried winding it a couple different times and even used a different line. Any advice?
I have the 60v trimmer and it came stock with lighter .08 stuff that was a real pain in the butt just like you’re describing. I replaced it with heavier .095 line and it was night and day difference. If I remember right when the 20v was first released it couldn’t accept .095 so maybe that’s part of the reason youre still having issues.
Do the eyelets look ok? Another tip I’ve come across is to soak the line in water overnight if you’re having issues with breakage.
Alternatively, you could replace the head. I’d convinced my mum to buy the Flexvolt trimmer for herself (dear old duck was talking about buying a 2-stroke, she’s retired with arthritis and that’s just a big old nope), today I finally received and swapped out the horrible DeWalt head/spool with a Speed-Feed 350, even casual observation showed it to be a far nicer head compared to the stock offering. Even nicer was that I didn’t have to use any of the adapters provided, went straight on.
I just got this so we will see on mine too
