Which do you prefer.

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

I prefer a 1/4 sheet palm sander myself as most of my needs are finish sanding. If you’re doing any rough sanding though, you’ll make a lot quicker work of it with a random orbital. I build a lot of primitive furniture and the orbital wont get into corners or tight areas.

crazyandyMember since Feb 2013

I have had better luck with a random orbit sander for the type of woodworking I do but it all depends on your application because there has been times I could of used a palm sander

wayneburgessMember since May 2012

Palm sander and micro belt sander 🙂

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

I don’t even own a belt sander anymore

FerTheHandymanMember since Feb 2013

Random orbital and a belt sander is what I use for most of my work. If I have tight spaces I like using my rockwell multi tool with the sander adapter.

The sanding kits for multi-tools are super handy and surprisingly effective.

I was thinking of buying the Rockwell multi tool. How do you like it.

I’ve had it for about 5 years and so far so good. I have’nt had any problems with it but the blades are kinda expensive.

Is it cordless or corded?

crazyandyMember since Feb 2013

I have tried both and they both do great work!

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

I have a cordless Milwaukee and a corded Porter Cable. The Milwaukee is great but the tool free blade change on the PC is awesome!

It is corded. I have’nt tried the cordless but seems to me that this is a tool that you would want corded. But I might be wrong maybe having both is the way to go.

Depends. My M12 Milwaukee is sufficient in 9 of 10 cases. If you have a few batteries or your batteries are the new 4.0 packs, it would probably be sufficient in 95% of cases. Depends on what you’re using it for I suppose.

Well I might have to try it. I did go with the Milwaukee mini recip so I might have to expand on the 12v.

The M12 Jig saw is probably my favorite tool in the line. It’s not good for 2X’s, but for cutouts and stiff it rocks.

crazyandyMember since Feb 2013

The M12 Jigsaw is very nice and for sure comes in handy!

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

You don’t think of a 12V Jig saw being much, but it is. The design of it is spectacular and offers more control than any other Jig saw I’ve ever used.

crazyandyMember since Feb 2013

Amen to that!

wayneburgessMember since May 2012

I think if I had the M12 I would be getting the bigger 3ah battery packs. 🙂

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

They have the 4.0ah XC packs out now.

wayneburgessMember since May 2012

For the 12v ?

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

Yea, saw them at HD last week.

Check them out HERE I think they were $69 @ HD

crazyandyMember since Feb 2013

Not to bad of a price!

I didn’t think so either

wayneburgessMember since May 2012

I have let my Son know about the new bigger Milwaukee battery packs he loves Milwaukee and every tool I bought him is still in service and not  one of them has broken in any way.  🙂

crazyandyMember since Feb 2013

Nothing better than milwaukee quality!

Joe MMember since Apr 2013

For the m12 stuff they added about 10 bucks to the price. The size increase for the M18 they kept the same price.

That’s kinda odd isn’t it. Guess there’s less competition in the 12V category.

Milwaukee has the 12v in the bag

Very much so. No other 12V line is even close.

wayneburgessMember since May 2012

They do on the number of tools but not on power the Metabo stuff is in another league as far as sheer power is concerned it makes the other 12v stuff looklike toys thats just a fact. But as far as having the most tools Milwaukee are just walking away with it.   🙂

firefighter4187Member since Mar 2013

firefighter4187Member since Mar 2013

Well guys, I finally broke down and bought a Dewalt Random orbital sander for 59 at Lowes Today. Very happy with it so far and will have a video up this weekend. This has cleaned me out for a while, time to do some fundraising. 🙂
