What do you guys think is next for the 20v Max line?
It’s a nice line. Dewalt was the last holdout on the slide on packs, but now that they’ve committed to the change and it’s clear that 20V Max is the primary line going forward, it’s certainly worth investing in. They’ve really got on the ball and finally have a decent selection of tools in the line which wasn’t the case a year or so ago. If I had it to do over again today I’d still invest in the Milwaukee line, but I certainly couldn’t fault anyone for choosing Dewalt. They’re still miles behind Milwaukee in the 12V category though.
Yeah i agree Milwaukee has the best 12volt line. The range of tools in that line are incredible. I have the drill/driver and the impact in the 20v line and very happy with them so far.
The only down side to the 20v max is you still can’t get some of the tools as a bare tool like the sds drill. Milwaukee consistently offers the bare tool right at the launch of the tool. Like conductor mentioned i just ended up going with Milwaukee just because I liked the fuel drill and impact driver better.
Milwaukee is becoming very trade specific too which I love!
I personally have never used a Milwaukee before except for a corded circular saw.
Well you are missing out and should get your hands on some milwaukee stuff you will probably fall in love!
Yeah my dewalt stuff is running good, i do like Milwaukee’s 12 volt line up
The milwaukee 12V impact is one of my favorite tools in my arsenal and would love to try the 12V drill/driver
Have you ever tried the dewalt 12 volt drill driver
I’ve got the Milwaukee 6394 circular saw and it is the finest cutting saw I have ever used. I put a Frued Diablo on it and it cuts like an absolute dream.
Yes, my friend has that saw and I have used it many times.
I have an old milwaukee circular saw and it runs better than some of the newer saws!
I have an old black and decker and is still going.

The old B&D was good stuff. In 1992 they started rebranding their pro grade handheld power tools as Dewalt and B&D was relegated to a DIY/budget pro type brand. Over time, with the acquisition of Porter Cable around 2004, B&D is primarily a homeowner tool now. Up until just a couple years ago we still had old B&D stuff sitting around the shop from the mid 70’s. A guy that used to post here a lot had quite a collection of old B&D tools.
Yeah it will rip some ood that’s for sure.
My Dad gave me his old Craftsman AMERICAN MADE BABY circular saw. The cord was garbage. I went to HD, got a heavy duty replacement cord and I use it all the time, great saw!
Yeah they had good quality back then.
They need less plastic parts these days!
Yeah on the 20v circular saw i wish the guard was metal, but its plastic.
Any way to make it less expensive to make, good ole engineers
I remember when you needed Muscles as well as brains to use power tools they were all built to last decades LOL am I that old?
haha different mind set these days….
🙂
I hope they are gone do a cordless bandsaw but milwaukee bandsaw are hard to beat
At the pace there goin that could be 5 years…….
Yea forgot they don’t have a porta band yet for the 20v max line yet. I’m glad I’m with the M18 line at least I can get tools on the same battery platform. You would have to buy a whole kit with dewalt or have the older stem batteries.
They even have an M12…
Yea that M12 is really sweet for plumbers and electricians. The pro press plumbing tools look really nice too use, but I could never afford one for as much plumbing as I do. They have some sweet tools for plumbers out right now.

X2! I love the plumbing stuff. The Propex tool, press tool, tubing cutter, all of it. But limited use just doesn’t permit me to justify the price.
I bought my Son some of the M12 gear the copper and the plastic pipe cutters and he has used them both about a year or more now and has had no problems at all. 🙂
