Something I was curious about…

Dewalt extra large tough case (DWST08204).

The compressor (DCC2560T1) is effectively 3/8″ too wide, but the case can still be closed and latched as is, with minimal force. If I were to modify the internal ribs, of the case, at the bottom area of the compressor, I could probably get it to fit without any issues, other than the weakening of the case itself. With just a wee bit more thought in the design department, methinks Dewalt could have integrated this right into the system. As it is, at some point, I will probably go ahead and modify a case so that I can store a set of hoses along with an extra battery and maybe a charger. This case is already tasked for a different tool setup, so I will have to wait until the budget recovers a bit.

nice. I know DeWALT has toyed with the idea of powered tough system boxes (not including radio or portable power supply). I wouldn’t be surprised if a cordless tough system compressor comes out

I got the impression a cordless ToughSystem compressor was in the works. I also put a bug in DeWalt’s ear for a cordless Tstak trim compressor.

Regardless of whether or not Dewalt is going to introduce any new solutions, I still want to be able to store and transport this compressor, along with other items needed to work with it, in relative safety. Too often in the past, the small compressors I have had have tumbled around in the back of the truck or van, if they were not tied down in some manner. Fitting this one into a case would fix that issue, IMO.

Dude that’s pretty awesome, thanks for sharing. On another note, my tough system case holds my Fuji HVLP sprayer but not the gun or hose so I’ll try and XL as opposed to the large.

would the 450 be better? last I knew it didn’t have that hand tool holder that the 400 has.

I pulled the hand tool holder out of mine and moved it to the next size down case (aka standard large). Uses the same slots to mount the holder, but is limited on what fits between the ribs of the lid. I personally prefer the standard size for hand tools over the extra large unit.

I believe the Toolguyd fit the compressor in the DS450 with no modifications

I am personally not a fan of the DS450, partially due to that it will not fit upright under my truck cover.

That is true, but you can take the hand tool holder from the 400 and put it in the 450. It mounts in the same way. I tried it.

I love using it with my trim guns….next one should be 120v and super quiet like the 200psi trim compressor

CPOoutlets has the Dewalt DCC2560T1 on a one day (12-3) sale Discounts drop it down to $224.99  Another fast charger or battery I do not need but suspect when they do sell a bare tool of this the price will be about the same. Guess I can try and sell the battery and charger on ebay. Good luck if you needed this compressor.
