I watched a demo video of the new brushless grinders from Dewalt but my eye caught something in the background that looks like a cordless die grinder. I don’t use die grinders and don’t know if Dewalt has one already but I haven’t seen one. What do you think?

I see it back there and I think you are right they must be teasing us

it also appears to be 2 different angle grinders. If you notice the gear housing the one in the middle has black on the top where the one in the back is all silver.
Definitely a die grinder

Looks like some cool tools coming for metal fab. There are two different grinders the silver one he’s using has a flat head for getting into tighter spots.
Can’t wait to expand my 20v line of cordless tools……and hopefully 1 ..60v 10″ mitre saw……..those grinders look badass
There are actually 3 different models of the grinders, at least here in EU. DCG406 DCG405 and DCG405FHJronman wrote:

Even better, thanks for the videos
I’d like a 60v saw too but I want a metal circular saw. I think it’s wishful thinking for me but maybe someday.
No probs. You’re welcome [emoji106]Framer joe wrote:

looks like the Die’s body is modeled after the OMT… I like.
Looks like Dealt might be finally getting their shit together
It’s either a die grinder or a personal massager.

If it is a “massager” my wife will get some yellow in her tool drawer to lolRickyMcGrath wrote:

I have the grinder being delivered on Friday……but it has a black handle not the cool looking yellow and black handle from the video above
Die grinder confirmed :
Makes the single speed M18 Fuel look archaic.
So a Dremel on steroids then?

does it serve the same purpose as a dremel? Die grinders are pretty new to me.
This looks to be out in Australia (I’ve placed an order). Are we the first to get it?

No it’s available in the states. I think it came out last month. I remember seeing it online when I purchased my TSTAK’s in the beginning of October.
Bare tool is $169 and a kit with 2x 4.0ah batteries is $279.

That’s quite good, it’s $213 USD just for the bare tool here! ($279 AUD).
It’s here. Please note I haven’t put it to use yet.
Pros:
-smooth
-lightweight
-comfortable grip
-bright LED’s
-speed adjustment switch is good
-with a 2.0ah battery the balance is towards the middle of the tool
Cons:
-very long (41cm/16 inches)
-safety button is way too hard to press (it actually completely ruins the convenience of this great trigger design)
-to reach full speed the trigger has to be pressed quite hard and absolutely all the way down (this gets tiring)
-stupid brushless triggers, not true variable (same as the OMT)
Ya now I know …I couldn’t. figure out that trigger…stepped hugh? Seemed weird thought it was my tool and hard to press fully….not liking it…..probably going back..
Just a FYI the trigger lock also holds the stepped triggers into the full speed so you don’t have to hold it.

It’s a rocker style tigger on the die grinder
The trigger is harder to press than the OMT trigger.
I’ve found it has to be absolutely ALL the way down to reach full speed. Even just 0.5mm off and it’s one step below full.
Great tool though, can’t wait to do something with it.
Thanks for the info….don’t like that step trigger
Unless this one is broken or I’m doing something wrong, but I can confirm the die grinder does not have a lock on switch like the OMT.

You are correct, the die grinder doesn’t have a lock out switch. The rocker switch frees up after a bit of use
