For $239.00? And a 2.0 battery? Does this seem decent? I have not used their finish nailer, only their 18g.

I used one yesterday for the first time. Kind of heavy compared to air nailers which I am used to. I only shot a dozen or so nails into pine, but my first thought was WOW, this thing has some power.

At least with Home Depot if you don’t like it you could always return it.

I’m so jealous. We can only skins here is Aus and there are $600 each!

Supposed to be one of the better guns of the lineup. Lots of power. Beastly driver marks etc. as per usual for Fuel I believe, but with a 15g I don’t think it’s as important as an 18 or 16.

For what I would be using it for it probably won’t make a difference. All my actual “finish” work I would use a smaller nail. It might make a difference on a door jamb, but you can still set the nail. I’ll take my odds, my porter cable leaves marks too. With that, you seem to be right, the reviews on the 15 are way better than the others from what I have seen!

Assuming they come with a 2,0 battery, this is a pretty good deal. Roughly $170.00 off their original price.

Is that 2nd gen nailer ?

No, it’s still the first one.

BremonMember since Dec 2014

Wouldn’t anticipate a 2nd gen anytime soon when they’ve got millions of the first to sell first lol.

SetBuilderMember since Oct 2016

I was using an 18g Milwaukee cordless today. The convenience is nice but they get heavy after a bit, no way would I want to run that thing all day and it only had a 2amp battery on it.

On one stage I was putting crown molding around a desk with it and it was tough to get the safety to depress and shoot the pin. I ended up dragging a  compressor over and using my Cadex. I can shoot nails so much quicker with an air gun.

Framer joeMember since Nov 2016

Oh, I thought Milwaukee had a 2nd gen cordless nailers already ?

BremonMember since Dec 2014

Nope, still the same reinvented wheel that doesn’t spin as good as the wheels already on the market ? Disruptive Spinnovation!

I am sure they will come out with something at some point. To be honest, I was surprised that they even made the nail guns… I think it was just something so they could compare to DeWalt. Milwaukee it not known for their wood working tools (my opinion). However, as I type this I now realize that by the end of the year they will have two different cordless miter saws out… so I could be a complete fool in this conversation.

BremonMember since Dec 2014

I’d say you’re 100% correct @FrosBros82, they aren’t known for their woodworking tools but every company starts somewhere. Maybe guys getting into tools 10 years from now will never know there was a time Red lacked in that department ??

FrosBros82Member since Feb 2015

@Bremon Very good point. I know they came out with a planer, but they never had one previously to my knowledge. With that, no table saw, belt sander, etc. However, I believe they do have a corded router? So I guess randomly they have wood working tools lol.

Dewalt finding its way in Milwaukee territory (plumping, mechanical)…Milwaukee finding its way in Dewalts playground (carpentry) ……gotta love the effort, from both…it’s all good for us

That’s seriously old school, though mounting a circular saw underneath a table with the blade sticking through always screamed “WTF are you thinking” to me.  There’s just way too many opportunities to separate me from body parts that I’m terribly fond of ever to use something like that.

100% agree. Table saws can already be a little sketchy, let alone when it’s not one mounted system. Couldn’t ever see myself using something like this.

Yep, I’ve said many times table saws are likely the most dangerous and intimidating tools in the shop. Making one more rickety doesn’t seem very innovative and seems like it could disrupt the way your appendages are attached to your body.

The 15g and 16g FUEL nailers are very powerful, but not very ergonomic.

They are almost identical internally. I’ve kept the 15g for personal use, but didn’t want the 16g since I had the Dewalt, which is a better unit IMO.

FrosBros82Member since Feb 2015

Note: The local toolshop dropped off the 15g today for use. The big wig is going to take it home and mess around with it tonight… he is very picky with his nailers and is a diehard paslode guy, so it will be interesting to see how he likes it. I’ll post his thoughts and opinions on the tool.

Eric – TIAMember since Jan 2010

I am a Paslode fan.  I know it takes gas but just seems like it more powerful and more consistent compared to battery only nailers.  For battery only nailers, I still love the Dewalt finish.

FrosBros82Member since Feb 2015

Yeah, I have heard good things about the DeWALT finish nailer too.

FrosBros82Member since Feb 2015

So finally got my hands on the chief’s 15g nailer. I didn’t do anything that was actual finish work, I was just shooting it in my garage on some old casing and trim. First, I felt that it was plenty powerful with limited recoil. It sunk all of the nails (soft wood) easily. With that, I did think the unit was somewhat awkward and not quite as smooth as the DeWALT 16g angled that I have used. For the right price I don’t think it is a bad buy, but you can get something that may be superior for only a few more bucks at Home Depot.

Hey FrosBros I’m new to to the group but I’m Fitout/finish Carpenter in Brisbane, Australia. Anyway 2 of the guys at work have the Milwaukee Guns and are starting to to have problems with them. One is nearly a month old and only works intermittently. The other has been replaced with a new one andhas stop work and he’s only had it back a week. I’ve got the Dewalt 16ga and it’s awesome, never a problem but I will definitely get the 15ga when it comes out in Aus. Hope this helps mate.

FrosBros82Member since Feb 2015

@D.Roche First, welcome to the forum! Glad to have you on here. Second, I have heard similar things about the DeWALT guns… honestly, I wouldn’t have a problem getting the yellow tools, but I just don’t have much in their 20V stuff at this point.. so the difference between buying a kit for DeWALT and a bare tool for Milwaukee is swaying me at the moment.

Milwaukee still going to do m18 nailers? or are they as important as lights are for DeWALT?

I think they’re going to take them back to the drawing board. I’ve heard they were bad but always assumed it was guys being picky because of the high cost…used my new one today a little to test it out, it sucks. It gets jammed a lot, especially with 2″ nails. Sometimes it doesn’t bump evenly, so your nails will be different depths on the same wood. It’s a little more evenly driven when you’re not bumping but my cheap Senco pneumatic seems to do a better job and it’s much smaller too.

D.RocheMember since Aug 2017

i Will give Milwaukee this they’re very powerful but they’re very heavy and awkward, they need to head back to the drawing board and make them more ergonomic.

Daniel JulianMember since Dec 2015

The 16ga M18 nailer is on a 1-day only sale for $259 ($140 off) on homedepot.com. Ends sometime after midnight, so only probably an hour or so left.

FrosBros82Member since Feb 2015

@BMack37the  Yeah, I would assume that they are going to come out with a generation 2.0 in short order. With all of the stuff that other companies are coming out with I would think Milwaukee would want to be competitive in a market that they are now diving in to. The 15g is alright, just heavy. I have not had problems with it jamming, but I just think it could be built in a more agronomical way.. if that makes sense.

Honestly, it was soo bad that I decided to sell it. I sold it today, didn’t last long even with the problems I mentioned. I should have asked for more haha.
