Meet with dewalt testing/ developments rep today. Looks like there coming out with a brushless router, heat gun (which was really cool), and a 4″wood/tile saw (like the 60v grinder but blade is to the side). After the prototypes get chosen i get to test em after manufacturing of finished tool.

Sounds like DeWalt is continuing to expand despite what some think!  I’m a big fan of Yellow tools and it looks like more money will be headed their way.  Less than five years and I’ll be able to actually use them regularly!

JronmanMember since May 2016

is it all brushless 20v stuff or is any of it flexvolt? I could see the router and tile saw as being flexvolt. Anything else you might get to test or see?

PouetMember since Dec 2016

Look like the 20V line will get all the tools that are usually 12V tools with other brands.

JronmanMember since May 2016

not sure about a 12v router

No I mean the 4” saw.

JronmanMember since May 2016

oh ok. I’m expecting a flexvolt router if a router comes out even though the battery would be a bit big haha.

Cr8ondtMember since May 2016

I may or may not have answered some questions about a heat gun but I cannot disclose the name of the manufacturer or if it runs on 20v Max BATTERIES, First rule………………of…………………fight……………………..um…er…uhhh……

TheultimatehicMember since Dec 2016

They used flexvolt batteries and im guessing they will be flexvolt tools. The saw and router I’m pretty suresure see from what i addled and was told. Not sure if the heat gun is. Next time i see them I’ll find out though.

With the 5a battery it will be about the same size as current 1amp palm routers since it will be brushless. I asked about its size cause the prototype was a lil taller then i would like. He told me it was gonna be a good 4″shorter then the prototype. Which would make it perfect size. He also mentioned most of these coming with larger flexvolt batteries in the package deal.

JronmanMember since May 2016

so its a 20v but comes with a flexvolt? what size of shanks does it accept?

TheultimatehicMember since Dec 2016

The title isn’t the most accurate. The new batteries are 20v but are also60v i was referring to battery when i put title. Didn’t think it through very well.

How …how does one get chosen for that…? I want in…I want to give input on what the builders need…want….Oh Dewalt let me help you….” help me help you” jerry maguire…..I will personally help Dewalt make millions….and avoid bad tool decisions…..lucky lucky people…

One of these times when I click on one of these post there is going to be a new tool from dewalt I’m excited about.  But it’s not today haha.

I’m sure DeWALT Insights is a start for some, youtube and other means of promoting tools is another, but a lot of it may just be connections. My boss is apart of countless groups (not necessarily construction related) and has over 200 custom houses of experience so that may be a big factor into how the guys get to go to builders breakfasts which is where I hear they get the insider info on new tools and sometimes tool demos. The big breakfast was a week or two ago. haven’t had a chance to see how it was. Honestly I’m not sure sure why our crew gets the privilege of going to these because we aren’t a big cordless crew yet. We are mostly still corded or pneumatic, apart from the usual drill and impact. I wonder if you gotta be a member of builders groups.

Luck. I ran into a rep at a store. We talked about tools obviously and i bought that gyroscopic drill. He ended up giving my card to testing guys who put me on there list. Met em twice now. Hopefully it keeps coming, and it sounded like it would.

when you mentioned new batteries you were talking about the 2.0/6.0 and the 3.0/9.0 flexvolts that just came out?

JronmanMember since May 2016

I found out its called builders breakfast because it is put on by the store called Builders. Builders is similar to say a Lowes or Home Depot but is geared specifically to the pro.

Framer joeMember since Nov 2016

Ya ..don’t know how to get invited…I’ve built well over a 1000 custom homes….from 200000 to 10mil…..I enjoy building neighborhoods for middle class hard working people….then going back to visit them years later,it’s rewarding….

.       ..of course building a multi million dollar home on the ocean is just as rewarding …to me building houses is like ..art…none are the same ,each has its own personality, difficulties and rewards….to meet the new owners or home lottery winners walk in their new home ,happy ,smiling ..kids running around .(hey, that’s my room !) .is a great feeling…….

…………I just wish I could use my vast experience with tools on a daily basis to help manufacturers (Dewalt) develop, build, tweak the tools we want….and change the horrible roll out of new tools, the preorder crapshoot, and not knowing what New Tools are coming ….so companies can plan ahead for new tools coming ,,instead of jumping into other tool brands not knowing what’s coming…..

Hugh JassMember since Feb 2015

While I agree with your first points, no company is going to give a comprehensive lineup of unreleased tools. Providing those on the fense motive to jump sides is bad for buisness as well. Every industry has trade secrets for a reason.

Framer joeMember since Nov 2016

I just disagree with Dewalt and other companies  philosophy…..when Dewalt developed 20v max and didn’t have an adapter for 5yrs. for the 18v buyers ..they lost thousands of loyal customers pissed off………

.

…builders, construction co., spend tens of thousands of dollars on tools..not like a DIY guy buying 1

Planning and budgets are key to companies success

,, I think the opposite…Dewalt would make more money and build loyalty  by announcing new tools 6 months ahead of release..then release them on time ,to preorders first then the masses….other companies could not build that new tool in 6months ..plus brand loyalty is huge…but I’m not a billion dollar tool maker…..just a builder …
