If you guy haven’t seen the news in a year or so, let me be the first to tell you, times in WV are hard. Seems everyone is struggling to get by. Apparently the struggle doesn’t end when you die…..

Wuahhh, that is unreal…

We had a news report about people doing natural burials. Simple pine caskets no crazy embalming like funeral homes try to push. The death economy is crazy profitable there was a video about how mortuary sales people push you hard to spend on fancy caskets and shit. They play on that guild complex hard. They play the whole well they should be comfortable for eternity. If I die cremate me and do something awesome with them. I wanna do a viking funeral on the great lakes but i think the coast guard might not approve.

I tell everyone that when I die I just want them to dump my body in a dumpster. It’s too expensive to die anymore.

JimboS1iceMember since Sep 2015

Wow, that kind of stuff would happen in West Virginia

I feel bad for the dude doing the repossessing. I’ve handled my share of couple month old bodies (not human) and his or her job has to stink. I don’t know at what point they make the repossession call but at some point you’d be pumping ooze that looks like maggoty chocolate pudding out of the bottom of those boxes. Casket wax anyone?

Just not behind a Denny’s there’s always a body behind a Denny’s.

Even here in my rural-ish part of Texas, there’s only one place that “allows” a cowboy burial.

I hate funerals and would prefer not to have one. I hate the thought of anyone’s last memory of me being up there in a casket.

Plus I have family in the funeral business and know how gruesome the embalming process is.

My dad has some horror stories from when he drove an Ambulance/Hearse for them back before we had County Ambulance Service and the Ambulance was operated by the funeral home. Talk about a conflict of interest ?

JimboS1iceMember since Sep 2015

Sooooo what does one to with a repossessed casket?

The whole industry is supported around Brad Paisley’s necrophilia fetishes.

Is that casket repo a real business or a joke that is fucked up what kind of heartless piece of Low life shit would dig someone up to make a buck

I have to assume it’s a joke. There is a lengthy legal process to digging up a body and I’m pretty confident “outstanding balance” isn’t going to be sufficient

KnarlyCarlMember since Jan 2016

Yup caskets are overrated…. Donate my body to science and let them pick over my cold fermaldahyde remains…..

Running an excavator is easy money. Not a whole lot of people volunteering for the job either I would imagine. Plus they’re in a concrete box so you don’t have to worry about nicking anything.

My 1st wife wanted a wood casket for her funeral and if I remember it was $2,500 and that was 22 years ago.

I don’t remember all the details, but when my grandpa passed in 03, I remember hearing that his casket was over $6,000. I don’t remember if Uncle Sam payed for that or not. He was a WW2 vet.

Elisha Cuthbert blows them both out of the water. Also she literally played The Girl Next Door.

She can’t sing though, and I’m not about to move to Canada for Elisha.

Plus my divorce settlement from Taylor is going to buy me so much proto.

Also the oddest thread to have this debate in, but it’s TIA so I guess it’s what we should expect.

I was about to say, this seems a little distracted and off topic, but not atypical of TIA here lol

When me an my dad were making aragnments for my grandmas funereal the money end was sickening. I mean I get frusterated with healthcare costs but funeral costs are just as bad.

She was gonna be cremated so we were able to rent a casket for the service. They replace the fabric lined but it still gross I think. We chose a fairly basic casket an liner. That alone cost 2500 bucks.

Honestly I could care less for funeral homes. There salesman use people’s hard times to make a quik buck. I know it’s just another bussniess type but I still don’t like it.

Personally I don’t want a funeral. I just wana go in peace. Also I think there’s better uses for the money.

It is sickening. The mark-up on a funeral is unreal and outpaces nearly every other industry. Mrs. Conductor and I have family in the funeral business on both sides. They’ll never tell you an exact figure, but I know for sure higher end caskets have 400-500% mark-up and I’d be willing to bet every other product and service they offer is the same way.

My parents are still alive and well in there late 80,s.They recently purchased there own Head stone some call them tomb stones. It is nice but it set them back $7500.00.My Aunt recently died and prepaid her funeral a few months before passing. The casket alone was $8000.00 nothing fancy.

KnarlyCarlMember since Jan 2016

Good planning well ahead of time, please. Last thing I want my kids to have to deal with is what to do with me when I die. No casket, no viewing, it will be an excellent cadaver somewhere, maybe harvest my organs, then dump me in a body farm.

..

Yeah at the time grandpa passed it wasn’t quite that high, but it was getting there.

I want to be sent through a large meat grinder and then fed to wolves. Hell, skip the meat grinder. It will be glorious.

Snow cones for wolves? Now that’s a billion dollar idea.
