Do you guys end up pulling bits of wire out of body parts after using a wire wheel or is that just me?
Yeah I like to double sleeve so that only the last quarter inch of the wire is stick in my skin.

I haven’t experienced the joys of wire wheel shrapnel yet, so thanks for the advice!

Somehow I still remember both of those from my childhood. Those were the days.

Lol probably you though dam isn’t fun I won’t get it in my hand again . I know that’s what I though about fiber glass
@CATERPILLAR can I consider my omt I just ordered a grinder? Grout blades and grinder blades both have abrasive on them and they grind away at material.
This has been a very helpful topic, I need to pickup a grinder or two. I’m looking at the Milwaukee M18 2780-20 or the Makita 18v XAG10Z for a cordless one, and the Metabo WP9-115QUICK for a corded grinder. I like the idea of the Metabo cordless ones, but they all appear to be $400+ for a kit and I can buy other tools with the money saved for my existing battery platforms.

Makita is a beast of a grinder but Milwaukee has better ergonomics, quick lock nut if you get the braking, better guards and takes up to five inch discs, metabos rock any other grinder imo but you’ll pay an arm and a dick

I’ll be heading to Home Depot to checkout the grinders before picking a cordless one up so I can see how they feel in my hands. The braking Milwaukee is $70 more than the regular fuel one so while I like the added safety it’ll depend on whether or not I want to spend the extra money and they feel good in my hands. The Metabo corded one I am interested in is $125 or $135 if I want the gold anniversary edition, that’s the only reason I’m even considering them. The cordless ones won’t be added to the collection unless I find some other Metabo cordless tools and buy a bare tool.

Buy one that is actually made in Germany 😉 better quality

Yeah, the Metabo I’m interested in is German in origin. WP9-115QUICK 4-1/2 In. Angle Grinder w/Non-Locking Paddle Switch
You won’t be disappointed, I have the anniversary edition. It’s a beautiful beast!

CPO has it for like $10-15 more so it’s tempting to get the anniversary edition just because I can.
I bought my grandpa that same metabo grinder for Christmas but it has the slide switch. We both love it. It runs very smooth and doesn’t vibrate at all. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one.

I would. Not many of us will be around to see the next gold one.

I like the way you think, though I also hope to be around when I’m 80… better get it just to make sure.

Very true
Out of curiosity has anyone had a chance to try the new kobalt 24v angle grinder that came out recently? I was curious about it.
All I have is a corded Genesis angle grinder I picked up from Sutherlands.
My personal collection
-flexvolt 60v dcg414
-m18 fuel 2780
-m18 2680
-bosch 18v CAG180
My construction company
Cordless
-m18 fuel 2780
-m18 2680
3 -20v dewalt dcg414
2-18v dewalt dc411
Corded
– milwaukee 11 amp 4.5in. 6146
2- dewalt 13 amp 4.5in. d28114
– dewalt 15 amp 7in./9in. Not sure what model, just know you better be hanging on tight.
Next on the list is metabo being that they’re supposed to be the grinders to have, but we use the corded models less and less and it’s another battery platform to have to get into.
If you decide to make the leap, you won’t be disappointed. The Metabo battery tech is very impressive. Charging the 6.2 on its air cooled charger, battery doesn’t warm up even the slightest bit.

I swear a new flap disk will take off more material then a grinding wheel, but will not last as long. Like you said you can get a good finish out of a flap disk especially if you are making a metal sculpture and just want some texture.
I love a new flap disc in the morning…smells like…victory.
Admit it, you guys put a new disc on the grinder and stand there for a few minutes, looking for anything in sight to grind the shit out of.
No I would never do that…. [emoji16]

I think that grinding wheels remove more but just my 2¢

A nice clean disc makes my grinder look even more filthy. I have to normalize it.

I have 2 7 amp PC that I got for a steal on Amazon, my favorite part of it is the 3rd position for the safety handle, they make decent cut off tools
