I want one of these:
Basically a mini CNC mill for finishing out an AR15 receiver. With the proper programming, one could probably create many other designs as well.
My wish list is simple, table saw and miter saw.
I want more shit than I have the money to buy, place to put, or time to use.
I just want more money and Anna Kendrick.
I want a Komatsu D575A and a whole freshly built housing development to demolish.

I’ll just take a folding chair to come watch
Cool but that is a nightmare I wouldn’t want to get involved in. Yest your legally in the right but I imagine anyone that buys one will be on ATF list somewhere.

This is so true. Sometimes I have to stop myself because I find myself nearly buying things just to round out the collection rather than for a purpose.

I figure that I am already on the list as I have a concealed carry permit. I had one when I lived in Florida and applied for one very shortly after moving back to Indiana. Indiana is laughably easy where those permits are concerned, and that ease of the permitting process actually bothers me more than being on a list. As to any particular special list that they might have, I am not too concerned about it. The BATF, in my opinion, has more to worry about than some single citizen who is a weapons hobbyist, that will always file for proper permits where necessary.
Here is my SHORT list at this very moment. At this point I’m in the mindset to increase or significantly upgrade my capability.
1. A benchtop belt/disc sander. These are offered by a dozen different companies but I’m pretty sure they’re all made by the same one. I want a Jet, but $700 is out of reason, so I’ll probably go with Eastwood because it’s blue.
2. Paint guns. I’d like a 2 gun set and will probably go with the Devilbis Starting Line set. I’m not going to be painting cars, so I think the Starting Line set will fit my needs.
3. Drill Doctor 750X. I’ve got a lot of money tied up in bits and I’m not any good at sharpening them on a grinder. The 750X will do both 118* and 135*, split points, and up to 3/4″. I’ve got Norseman Magnums up to 1″, but 3/4″ covers the vast majority.
4. Body hammer set. I gave my Eastwood set away. Dude needed a set, he’s helped me out tons of times, so now I’m in the market for another set. Would lime to upgrade to the 7 piece Martin set, but $250 is a lot for the 3-4 times a year that I use them. I may just go with another Eastwood set.
5. Wilton CS4 drill press vise. My current drill press vise is small and shitty. I’m not a machinist, but I do prefer tools that aren’t total shit. 4″ is big enough, without being totally massive. I’m not sure how well I will like using a cross slide, but I’m willing to find out.
6. M18 Fuel Bandsaw. My purchase of the miter saw and shop vac likely knocked me getting this to the back burner for now, but I desperately need one.
7. Metal Cutting Bandsaw (Floor model). I would prefer this over the portaband, but space limitations apply.
8. HF 20 Ton Shop Press. Nice to have, but not a frequent use item. When I get everything out of my shop after Christmas, I’ll likely have room for either this or the band saw. Could go either way.
9. Powder Coating setup. I could order this today. It’s inexpensive, but I don’t have room for an oven (notice a pattern here?). I could start out with a benchtop oven, but I’d like to be able to do a 4 wheeler frame and anything less seems like I’d just be prolonging the inevitable. I could go with an IR curing set up, but that drives the cost up tremendously.
10. 3/4″ Impact set up. I have 3/4″ chrome sockets, but I’d like to have impact capability as well. I figure a good gun and socket assortment would be in the $700-$800 range. It would be an occasional use situation, so that’s on the back burner.
I could do do this all night, but that’s my top 10…..this week. Christmas will knock a couple of these out, but we’all have to see which ones
Love it, @Conductor562. I, too, could use a no. 6 on your list!
@conductor, NO 1 on your list is one of those things you can go your entire adult life without having one or ever thinking you need one BUT once you get one you will kick yourself for not getting one sooner……I love mine and use it constantly….

I’ve thought at least 100 times “damn wouldn’t that be handy”, so it was the first thing I put on my list. I’ve started to buy one a half dozen times, just never pulled the trigger.
Devilbis will do great for you bro u can also check out some of iwata models that also work great
Bigmikez wrote:

I looked at the Iwata guns, but all the ones I found were high end guns. But maybe they make budget models and I just haven’t found them?
I mostly paint shop projects and farm type equipment, but I’ve rattle canned it long enough. I want HVLP, something better than HF or HD models, and not something I’m gonna feel like I have to use once a week to justify the cost of. I thought about going straight for the Finish Line series, but I want to gauge my use before I make a bigger investment.
Next year there might be a $600 gun on my list. You never know ?
yep its amazing how often you use a bench belt/disc sander one you have one.

Those are nice. CNC machines are awesome but too pricey for me.

Yeah, that’s why it made the wish list instead of finding its way into my collection…
First thing… big assed shop with a big compressor and 240v everywhere. Then a 14″ or bigger bandsaw, drill press of two, and a spindle sander. Also a lift for cars and trucks.
I’d like to have one of the Euro market M12 1/2″ impact wenches, and an M18 1/2″ impact wrench with the old style 2655b ‘ball pin detent’ in a 2755 tool.

I picked up a small bench mill several years ago for about $1000.00. Works really good, just don’t use it as often as I thought I would.
Well #1 on the list would be all 15,000 or more dollars in tools that got stolen last night. Hopefully one of the insurance companies is willing to grant that wish.

Tough Tool Reviews on Instragram
I’ve lost a tool here and there but never like that, makes me sick thinking about it.
If I ever caught someone in the act, they better be packing and aim to kill.
Sad to hear. I’ve been sick to my stomach all day since I seen your post it just upsets me to see a friend get taken like that. I wish I could do something to help.

Went through it all and made up a list for the sherrif and insurance companies. Ended up only being $11,378.93 in value with tax at list price with everything being priced individually. I bought all of it on sale and in kits so it was probably closer to 8k out of pocket. I would have priced it out as I bought it, but the sales are long gone and most of them the entire kit didn’t get stolen. If anyone sees a like new Japanese impact driver at a seedy pawn shop in the PNW let me know. I just wish it would have happened before black Friday :D.
If homeowners insurance doesn’t cover it the vehicle insurance probably will or vice versa. I guess a lot of other houses on my street got ripped off last night too including a firearm so they might actually do something about it. I’m not holding my breath though.
I want my own walmart converted into a giant woodshop with every tool I could possibly want.

I’ll raise you, how about a menards, it has the lumber racks already 😉

I chose Walmart because its not a huge tool store like Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. I would rather not put a tool store out of business. But you have a good point. The wood racks would be handy. Maybe I could get both. Convert the Walmart to the shop. Could thaw out a freezer or 2 to use as finish and stain storage. Could also use some shelving as wood storage. Probably could increase the size of the eating area then hire someone to run a restaurant out of it. Would probably add a handful of 220 outlets and a 440 outlet or two (just incase) for the big tools.
I would convert the Menards to a home improvement store that only sells quality products. So only top quality wood, top quality engineered wood/plywood, quality finish material, quality furniture hardware, and high quality tools. I was thinking the outside area that stores a bunch of material at the “no longer Menards building” would be enclosed and would have adequate climate control to ensure that the wood materials stay at an optimal moisture content. The newly enclosed area would store more of the common woods, engineered/ply, and metal used then will also store customer orders until they can be picked up or delivered. Also it will have mini displays for items that are not kept in stock. The mini displays would include things like flooring, cabinets, counters, casement, doors, windows, masonry, deck/fence material, and roofing. Also there will be a bargain corner for wood, engineered wood/ply, and metal that may be not up to our quality standards whether it be because of warps, knots, scratches, etc. and will be priced on sale. Bad quality wood will never be mixed with top quality wood. This would be the pro users dream store.
In the main area tools, finish hardware, furniture/cabinet hardware, paint/stain, food section, and some specialty hardware. There will be absolutely no homeowner grade/diy grade tools (Black and Decker, Masterforce, Ryobi). I would probably keep the latest top of the line models of tools in stock until a newer model comes out and any previous models still in stock at the time new models come out will be sent to a section of the store called the bargain corner which will store them at a discounted price. Say I had a couple of dcf886’s still in stock when the dcf887’s came out. They would go there, and the spot where the dcf886’s were would be filled with dcf887’s. Would make for a more appealing section for a non pro, diy/homeowner, or a young tradesman with little to no tools and/or not much budget for any.
Each tool company will have their own dedicated section in the store. Well will have pro level tools only because of the quality they provide to the user. We will include a variety of lineups from companies including leaders in hand tools, cordless tools and cabinet/furniture grade tools like Bosch, DeWALT, Festool, Laguna, Makita, Milwaukee, Powermatic, Ridgid, SawStop, and Snapon. Each company will have displays of some items and if a customer wants to test out a particular tool they can ask an employee to setup a demo to let the customer try out the tool. Because of their size cabinet grade tools will not be available on display or in stock but we will ensure the customer can still order the cabinet level tool they desire.
Another section of the main area of the store will have the ability to mix paint, stain, and finishes. We will also have the ability to color match and finish match. We will keep a full line of stain colors from one company in stock. We will also keep in stock a full line of finishes from the same company as the stain as well. Spray paint will also be kept in stock in countless colors to ensure the customer can find the right color and appearance. Brushes and other applicators will be in this section as well.
We will also have a section in the store for finish hardware that includes entry door knobs/handles, entry door hinges, lock kits, finish light fixtures (recessed, sconce, etc.), finish plumbing fixtures (faucets, towel racks, shower heads etc.), ceiling fans, switch covers, and window blinds/curtains with mini displays.
Our furniture/cabinet section will have a wide selection of items as well. We will have a display for pulls, knobs, hinges and locks plus a catalog for even more. We will also include some specialty furniture/cabinet hardware like light kits and slides,
We have another section in the store that has some more specialty hardware like appliances with some displays including some smart appliances. We will also include some smart home tech like LIFX and HUE smart LED light bulbs, smart thermostats, smart smoke/co detectors, etc. Also if a customer wants to outfit their home with security hardware they can find it here as well. It will include cameras, motion detectors, window sensors, etc.
We offer a dedicated section specifically for fueling the worker on the job-site. We will include food options for meals that tradesman like to have on the job-site at affordable prices. We also will include bulk bins filled with a selection of tradesman’s favorite snack items like nuts, trail-mix, jerky, etc.
If a customer is not satisfied with our selection of products, is unable to buy a product because it is not in stock, or cant find a product they like, they can get help from an employee to find the correct catalogs with more options of items they are looking for and get those items ordered.
pretty long post but that’s kinda my idea for a giant pro specific home improvement store and wood shop.
Old airplane hangers with three phase 480 are the best shops. They almost always have floor drains and are insulated. Bonus points if it still has a full or partially paved runway for use as a back country “not a dragstrip”. Only issue is that you build furniture in one and you’ll forget that just because it can fit out the hangar door, doesn’t mean it can fit in a house door. I know a guy who ran a whole fleet of container trucks out of a small hanger a farmer used for his spray plane.
I could totally try and fit a walmart in my house no big deal.
Realistically though, I wish for pipe burst equipment….

you and me both… my father never hired guys with fancy tools, he said they either worry to much about their tools to do the job right or simply didn’t know how to use them!…..in fact one of his job interviews was flip a hammer and ask if they could do that?….if they said hell I could do more than one flip he would say oh…good sorry we have to many guys that do that already!…..
