I began to experience issues with my Dewalt D55141-2 compressor not shutting off in the last couple of weeks. The regulator is difficult to adjust and now does not appear to regulate anything. The unit will continue to run to a maximum psi of 125 lbs, with the tank gauge also registering 125 psi, with the sound of escaping air. The PRV is not the source of the discharge. It appears to be around the regulator.
The regulator appears to be ‘hard’ incorporated into the manifold. There is no apparent way to remove the knob to get at the internal components. The entire manifold is no longer available from DeWalt. My question is whether there is some method to access the internal components to attempt a repair. Any/all help would be greatly appreciated.

The plastic cap usually comes off to service the regulator. It’s usually press fit with some sort of positive retention. Tricky, but possible.
Thank you for the information. Opening the regulator all the way up reveals what appear to be two small slots at the base of the knob. It looks like they might be used to insert a flat blade screwdriver and pop the cap. I will see where this takes me. Thank you very much for your quick response! Much appreciated.
Two slots also may mean a special tool to twist it out. It MAY be threaded. Just be careful and patient.
