I’m in the same boat. I keep looking at Sunex and Gearwrench. I’d buy Toptul but the unofficial official US dealer doesn’t carry SAE sockets.

They’re the OEM for Lowe’s Taiwan ratchets.

3/8″ Impact sockets(He may still have 1/2″ in stock or coming): http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOPTUL-GDAD1201-3-8-Drive-Deep-Metric-Impact-Socket-Set-in-Metal-Case-8-19mm-/112205298402?hash=item1a1ff4fae2:g:1XwAAOSwhkRWdwOk

You can’t really see the quality in impact sockets but look at the quality of their wrenches and the price on those deep sockets!(not my pic)

IR makes some good ones

Almost all of my impact sockets are sunex rebrands and I don’t have a single complaint with them. I would highly reccomend them.

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

Good call, Northern Tool has Sunex rebrands called T&E

Just follow the deals. As long as you’re getting chrome molybdenum rather than standard chrome vanadium you should be good to go. I’ve read many places that the former doesn’t fail as easily as the latter.

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

Keep an eye out for sunex deals. Check the clearance at CPO regularly. I got a smoking deal from CPO on my impact sockets from them. I have Five kits from sunex and have never had a problem. Amazon also occasionally has deals on them as well. I have four harbor freight sets that I still use frequently with no issues if you are looking for sunshiny cheap.

Don’t know, haven’t priced the set yet. I work for O’Reilly and our employee discount is shockingly huge on some stuff. I want the IR set but haven’t asked what my price is…

Seriously nothing wrong with getting a harbor freight set and then replacing them with higher end ones if they ever break. I use my HF ones more than any other of my sockets.
