Looks like they aren’t ditching 20v guys.

I’ve seen a few so far.

1″ SDS D handle

6ah 20v battery with 20700 cells (suck it Milwaukee)

Bunch of new nailers.

Add anything you see.

Yeah, toolaholic says it’s out, “They have seriously expanded their 20v brushless nailer line up. New releases as follows: 20v brushless 18g flooring stapler 20v brushless 18g narrow crown stapler 20v brushless 15g finish nailer 20v brushless 18g brad nailer. 23g pinner in development!”

Turner85Member since Jun 2015

So many different gauge nailers. I already own the 16g so I’d be interested in the 23g pinner.

LoganMember since Jun 2015

The flooring stapler is cool

BremonMember since Dec 2014

15 gauge, 18 gauge, and stapler will be mine :D. And a pair of 6.0 batteries of course.

The.HandymanMember since Aug 2015

Screenshots from today as DeWalt was killing it with new releases coming!

So excited.

I feel like that compact recip will still be underwhelming despite an XR upgrade. We’ll see though.

I agree. In the video it look like it was still going to vibrate your teeth loose. I hope they not only fix some of the vibration issue with adding a brushless motor. I love the concept of this compact reciprocating saw and would like to enjoy owning one.
KnarlyCarlMember since Jan 2016

Sweet, can’t wait for Dan and Eric to start putting videos up on the STAFDA event

Woooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo the new 9.0s are made with 20700 cells. That is the best possible news. I’d like to see Milwaukee do their comparison ads now.

They will need a whole new marketing plan as the new 9.0ah FlexVolt will be no comparison. I think the new 6.0ah 20v with 20700 cells is going to be amazing as well.

midogrumpyMember since Jan 2010

any news of a brushless jigsaw at  STAFDA

or even a barrel grip jigsaw (BL)

is there a complete list with model numbers what DeWalt showed at  STAFDA

cheers

This was known since June and was a big factor in getting me into FlexVolt/more 20v Max than I anticipated.

Yeah the Metabo 6.2ah batteries with 20700 cells kick anything and everything in the teeth currently so I’m stoked to see what kind of performance gains we can expect from tools with these. The flexvolt grinder with the 9.0 will be hard to keep a handle on.

They’re physically larger; more surface area/more energy dense. Because they have more surface area they stay cooler easier leading to longer runtime, and they have higher current thresholds than 18650s so you won’t see voltage drop as much.

I was going to go on another rant when I saw this (shocked me honestly). Somehow I think it’ll be even worse due to it’s inherent shit design and their propensity to remove obviously good features.

I will say I bought mine under the assumption I’d actually need a compact recip. I think perhaps once out of the last few years I’ve used it where I couldn’t use a full size, it just so happens to literally almost never matter for me. Variable tools have just about eliminated my dependency on recip’s entirely.

Yea that design always intrigued me but kind of gets lost, really for its size you could go full size sawzall (sorry recip, bad habit) lol and have a 1 handed for the times you need something small, I know you can fit it between a stud but umm how awkward does that grip have to be, would have been cool to see them take on a “hackzall” style recip

The.HandymanMember since Aug 2015

At least it may mean a 20v regular recip saw is around the corner…with a 4 way position blade clamp, light, and hook. I can dream.

Hugh JassMember since Feb 2015

Active shock absorption is at the top of my list, I will not buy another recip ever again in my life unless I get to keep the teeth the 20v compact hasn’t taken out already. I have an idea in mind for a counterweight inside the unit that is used to isolate the reciprocating motion internally. It would add weight but be a dream to operate in theory.

On the other hand Dewalt should probably lobby to our new president to use a fleet of 20v compact recip’s as an alternative to waterboarding. 1hr a day having to use it will have our enemies begging to spill their secrets.

Bremon goes into more detail but we hit the limit of 1850 battery cells right now. Maybe the chemistry will change and they can do higher ah with the current draw for power tools but not right now.

Makita has AVT on their corded recip saw. I don’t know why Dewalt saws seem to buck the worst?

I think it comes down to too slow of an RPM personally, under bind the tool has time to become the reciprocating portion of the action instead of the blade which remains largely stationary, starting a unstoppable chain reaction, turning you into a puddle of the previous man you knew yourself to be.

What could help overall?

Orbital action.

AVT.

Faster RPM.

More powerful motor.

Paste of wood glue combined with Unicorn horn dust drawn into circles of demonic protection on the inside of the motor housing.

That should do it.

Sounds good!?

You explained it well, the tool becomes part of the recip motion

Its weird that orbital is absent on cordless models for the most part. I think most people will agree the dewalt FV recip was disappointing.

Or at least that it wasn’t exactly a show stopper….

BremonMember since Dec 2014

No Knarly, I’d say disappointment. Like if Ford put out the new super duty, talked up power levels on the diesel, and forgot AC and shocks because they were worried about price point.

20v max brushless grinder coming soon for anyone interested!

You know how when you have the little Lego board you can keep piling on as many of your yellow legos on as possible and start using all your single bricks to fill in the cracks to have as many legos as possible because you don’t want your Doo Doo head brother to use any of your yellow legos on his red board. You can keep stacking but it starts to get crowded and takes a long time to disassemble and put away and then reassemble and put back together. Then one day you get a new big board. You can start stacking all your legos on it. And all the big bricks fit on it and you can just throw it together and put it away for snack time more faster and all the other kids will think you are the coolest. The batteries are kind of like that but with f*#!ing magic pixies and shit.

I actually dislike orbital. With proper pressure and proper tooth count you can cut faster in demo and putting pressure on it in orbital means more vibration plus a worse off blade if you hit metal.  Might be I’m doing something wrong or just different though.

Toolaholic on the ig, happened to read thru his tool help post and it was in there.

That’s all I know, no more questions!!

I believe there is a picture or video of the new compact brushless recip saw. If you look below, I think that might be the new grinder. I thought that when I first saw that but hadn’t heard anything about it. It looks to be similar form factor to the 20v grinder with the XR grip on the handle.

ryanbrecMember since Aug 2012

This is the picture. Hammer drill, not recip saw.

[External image (uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com), not copied] We getting a portable power supply that comes with four 9.0 flexvolts? Also is that the new track saw above the circular saw? There’s also something in the top right corner that i’m not sure what it is.

The power supply isn’t being sold with 4 FlexVolt batteries, especially 4 9.0ah ones. That would be really expensive. It is sold with 4 4.0ah and 1 6.0ah FlexVolt battery.

The saw above the FlexVolt circular saw is another circular saw, just turned around. Track saw is coming though.
JronmanMember since May 2016

@The.Handyman I knew it came with the three 4.0s and one 6.0 flexvolt but didn’t know if they were coming out with a more expensive option with four 9.0s in addition to the current option. I agree it would be expensive. Could that saw be a blade right 20v brushless circular saw above the flexvolt saw? seems unlikely for a 20v to be blade right but could be possible.

How about a 20v brushless, blade left, 6.5″ saw??! With a rafter hook please! Oh and a base that allows it to work on a track for a carpentry style track saw. Too much to ask?

As noted many times; that’s apparently coming out. Rafter hook and modular base I can’t speak to but 6.5″ blade left 20v Max XR circular saw is coming out.

wildroamerMember since Apr 2016

I can attest to the vibration on the FV recip. The thing is a beast, but the more I used it, the more aware I was of the crazy vibes. Returned it.

Oh for God Sake! Quit your whining you right handed wooses!!!!!

This is for all of the lefties that have been taking it on the chin for YEARS!!!!!!!!

KnarlyCarlMember since Jan 2016

I actually found I prefer the blade right design. I’m right hand, but I like having the base resting on the material that won’t be cut off. … It’s what I got used to as a wee little lad

BremonMember since Dec 2014

I prefer blade right as well despite blade left seemingly being more popular.
