By 11PM I had successfully picked half the locks in my house and all of the master locks.
How does that make you feel about the state of your belongings? Or is this a potential new career path for you? The key to true home security is having only one door, and it being large and round and green. Doorknob in the center to confuse any potential thieves.
That’s cool, is this a new endeavor? At least I live far away from you ha
Just curious really. Shocked at how truly easy some of these locks gave way. My deadbolt opened with the tension wrench only (no pick) after it had been successfully unlocked then relocked.
Anyway, cool little tools if anyone’s interested:

That’s pretty cool actually. So while we’re at it we should have a TIA meet and greet thread where everyone tells me where they live and what battery system they’re in. Any volunteers?
On topic though, this is fairly interesting. Inexpensive enough that, like Tolkien, it would be cool to fiddle around with.
I bought a lock picking tool in HS. It’s very handy, I’ve had to open firesafes without looking for the key that’s been moved however many times since putting the stuff up…locks are only there to keep honest people honest.

I picked through our front door with one of my sisters bobby pins… lol
I have looked at sets for i don’t know how long to mess around with. Would be good to have/k ow in certain situations in my job. Thanks for reminding me. I might pick up a set finally.

Surfing YouTube one night, I somehow came across videos on lock bumping. Not that someone who really wants in can’t get in, but now kids have a fun way to do it. In the woods, with the closest neighbor like a half mile away, nobody would ever know, if we weren’t around. Thankfully, there’s no crime to speak of in my area, but I’m thinking Rottweiler (actually, the Great Pyrenees that we’re planning on will probably get it done).
Decent cameras are cheap. More of a deterrent than anything. I wouldn’t mind installing some obvious cameras outside of the house.
I’ve had great luck with master locks using a soda can. Scary how easy it is, actually.
I work in IT. Someone at work locked a laptop into a docking station and lost the key. I was able to successfully pick it free.
So I’m already reaping (legal) dividends from this skill.
