What do you guys think of these I always see them at the store but never know… Does anybody use them or any of these Kreg things? They seem super useful and pretty cool!

They are amazing! Enough said. I have the K4 jig (first picture above) and I love it. You won’t be disappointed if you get one.

I agree, the shop is not complete without one…….doesn’t really matter what model they all work great…….

FoneguyMember since Mar 2016

There is a kit on sale today at factory authorized tools

I don’t do much of anything without my kreg jig, really useful

Get the r3 with a clamp and it’ll do the same thing for half the price

They are nice to have. Use mine on alot of projects.

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

I’ve had mine for probably 8 or 9 years. It’s a great fast way to get the job done when you don’t feel like doing traditional joinery i.e. Cabinetry

olletsocmitMember since Apr 2016

OK it looks like Home Depot and Lowe’s both have the R3 for $40. The clamps another $25. do I have to use their clamps for an specific reason or is it cool to use any other one I have at home now. Also do you guys use the Kreg screws, which are a little expensive …or do you just buy normal ones

The right angle clamp is a life saver and the face clamps (mainly the automaxx ones) are nice to have, not crucial for me though. I want to get the new automaxx right angle clamp though….

I have a few clamps by them, they have a large flat on both sides to keep things lined up plus one side fit the little R3 jig nicely as well.

I like the screws as well and buy them in bulk some times 1000-2000 pc boxes…

So I went to buy the R3 kit today. It was $40, but the clamps are $30 each alone! They were out of clips so I didn’t get anything.

I guess I will be trying some coupons. Got a lot of good ones from ace hardware

The clamps are worth it though. Make sure you get the “Automaxx” ones!

DaveJr.Member since Nov 2015

Oh and if you ever break a drill bit, just call or email Kreg and they will replace it. On the 5th holed I drilled with my K4 jig, the tip of the bit broke. I called Kreg and they sent me 3 replacements. Great company!

I think the clamp just dropped to $20 at Lowe’s.

BTW, definitely buy the Kreg screws. They have a little longer of a thread-less area which allows the screw to pull the boards tight against each other. Plus the head is the perfect size and they come in robertson which is my favorite b/c phillips suck and torx/hex bits can get stuck easier in the head of the screw.

JimboS1iceMember since Sep 2015

I usually use kreg screws, if you over drive it won’t blow the hole out where construction screws will blow through the hole

I have the K5 kit, mounted it on a piece of wood for portability . Also bought the HD jig setup to go with it.

Love this system !

Yup what they said. Use the Kreg screws.

FYI EVERYONE: Ace Hardware sent out coupons in the mail (if you didn’t get them ask friends or you can call Ace corporate and they will send). It’s 4 coupons for July 25-29. One is $10 off $20 or more and one is 50% off $25 or more. As well as 2 others. Ace sells Kreg so gonna use the 50% off!!

I picked this up at a random HD I have never been to before. [External image (uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com), not copied]

Was $30 and free clamp too good to be true? Honestly quality feels like bullshit to me!

After testing 3 times after I got it (Milwaukee fuel drill):

….and this jig in soft wood = shit holes in my mind. Am I expecting too much from this?

Nah that’s what the holes look like, that is the promo kit I mentioned they have at the holidays, being pocket holes you usually keep them hidden or can get plugs for the holes

Also, make sure you are only powering on the drill after bit hits wood. Don’t allow it to needlessly chew up the walls of the jig.

comp56Member since Sep 2014

Dipping or lightly coating your kreg bit in bees wax once in awhile will also help with sliding through the jig and cutting the wood…..

Wow you’re right thanks a lot it’s a great tip!

I really want the larger kit with the clamp seems like it be much much nicer in the Jager also is solid metal where the drillbit goes. Seems like I could do a lot more with the clamp one instead of the R3. Both would be ideal does anybody have the are three XL it’s the one made for 2 x 4’s and larger that really looks handy

olletsocmitMember since Apr 2016

Clamps… so i need another one that is bigger then the little guy the R3 came with.  what do you guys there would be better and more utilized… the reason i am asking is b/c i have a coupon that Lowe’s honors that takes 50% off a single item.

6″ clamp, this one seem to be the most widly used one, but i could be wrong:

[External image (www.kregtool.com), not copied]

This one looks great, but only for after the holes are drilled, right?  So would need 2 just to utilize this one?

[External image (www.kregtool.com), not copied]

or the 8″ bar, seems to be not too small and not to big…

comp56Member since Sep 2014

I say the first one you posted, reason being as you can angle it to fit most boards because the jig needs to be at edge

comp56Member since Sep 2014

I also use one of these as well more often than i thought I would… but again that is after the holes are drilled…

Those are really nice but if you are willing to spend a little more the porter cable pocket hole jig I think is a lot nicer
