I’m liking the Bosch 12v line, when the new stuff comes out I. I’d like to pick that kit up but in terms of a comprehensive 12v line you really can’t fight with the Milwaukee m12 line. They have a lot of great offerings that some manufactures don’t offer in any platform, cordless ratchets, Palm nailer, PVC knife, copper tubing cutter, 5 3/8″ circular saw and even a 6.0 ah battery coming out. Bosch makes some great tools but I consider the size of the line too before committing.

The great thing about Bosch is that they make great tools and they make compact 12v tools.
The reason I prefer Milwaukee is they give you a ton of options and they’re always more powerful than you’d expect for a 12 volt tool.
I wish Milwaukee would add a compact sub-lineup to the m12 line, make it brushed or something but give us size options and maybe we buy both(like I did with the hackzalls). You simply can’t beat Bosch right now on size and a 12 volts number one reason for existing is size.

Yes I’d love to have the Bosch, the m12 fuel drill is so big and stepping down to the brushed isn’t a huge drop in size either
I am team red on this one. My M12 Fuel set is outstanding and my go to tools. My m12 drill is small enough for me.

I have bosch and metabo and like them both but I do like the slide on packs like dewalt and the new makita as they just feel better to grip what are your thoughts on this ?

Depends, if your going for compactness you always have the battery hanging off the handle regardless off the size. I don’t mind the stick packs for 12v, but I like the fuel guage on the makitas.

Yeah I like the look of them I’ve just bought a 5.2 ah battery for my metabo and that has the gauge on as well as on the tool itself which is good and the battery lasts ages and I mean ages [External image (uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com), not copied][External image (uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com), not copied]
What do you guys think of the new TIA video on the Makati 12v drill/impact?
From the looks of it they look pretty powerful, but nothing to amazing!! I would like to see a gun fight on Makati 12v brushless and bosch 12v brushless!! Lol
I’m up for the Bosch but man I’d love to try that Metabo line! I’ve got 5 Bosch 12vs….2 heated jackets (awesome), the FL12 light (friggin awesome), the 12v vacuum (great for sawdust cleanup around my tools but not much else) and my brushless 12v screwdriver. Awesome little gun. My favorite compact that unfortunately is one of a kind???? My Festool CXS. Honestly the most handy drill driver I’ve ever used. It’s technically a 10.8v but so are most of the other 12v tools.

I have plenty of bosch 10.8v and a few metabo 10.8v and the bosch is a better line up but the metabo there’s just something about it I love it and there’s nothing fancy about it but it just does the job well and even the 1.5ah batteries last ages I swear metabo battery technology is the best
I would expect to possibly see some gen 2 Fuel M12 tools this year at the Milwaukee event.
Yes I think you are right DR, Milwaukee knows they have the market in 12v tools, it would behoove them to make sure they stay on top.

I’d be really excited for makita if they kept the stick pack design. Their new 12V drill is the size of the bosch (the motor and chuck part) but with the power of M12 fuel. The problem is that battery hanging off the bottom messes up the ergonomics more than a thicker handle for me.

All the 12v are 10.8 of you put a meter on them the no load voltage may be 12, just like the Dewalt 20v, slew of marketing by adding the Max in there.
I don’t know who started the re branding of 10.8 volt tools to 12v Max.

Back in NiCd tools, some were actually 12V so I think many 10.8V was marketed as 12V from the beginning. Of course in some other countries stricter marketing laws and/or public pressure make them use the nominal voltages.
I love my 12v Bosch. Can’t beat the size, it’s really handy. The only thing for me that Milwaukee has them beat on is the number of tools in the lineup. Power doesn’t really concern me since I didn’t get into a 12v line for power, I was after the compactness. I would like to try the Hilti 12v or the Metabo though.

Yeah I would like to see a bigger line up in the bosch as well as metabo as metabo doesn’t have much at all and I haven’t seen any brushless metabo yet

I agree… but in time they’ll have a bigger line. And it will be awesome.

Yeah, I feel like all of their 12v offerings are really solid. Next on my list is the 12v vac.

Yes I hope so , I had the recip saw and one good thing with it was you could use jigsaw blades in it as well as recip blades

Where do you buy your 10.8v Metabo?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
I’m in the UK so I use eBay mostly , also check the Internet to see what the prices are like

Ok gotcha. I know I’m loving the 18v Metabo I’ve got so I thought about checking their 10.8 out

Kruton, I ALMOST bought the 10.8v kit on Amazon UK. THEN…..I realized they don’t have a compatible charger here in the US 🙁

Way to crush my dreams man! Thanks for the heads up, that must be why I can’t find them for sale in the states.

Yeah sorry dude. I’m right there with you. Plus the kit, which was really not too expensive, had the right angle attachment that I love on my CXS
I think they have the right angle attachment for the 18v quick models, but I’m not positive.ChrisK wrote:

Yeah, here is the one available here in the US
i heard this one will also fit the Fein 18v drill that everybody got last year from the Tool Nut.

Did you end up getting one of the Fein drills?

Yup, I sure did. I gave it to my Dad for his birthday last year. Awesome drill, German made, on par with my T18. My T18 is smaller but the Fein is every bit a high quality, light weight machine with many high end functions.
Though I didn’t get him the right angle attachment! I read on the FOG that the right angle will fit!
When it come to 12v Milwaukee is the way to go. You can get anything 12v. So many different tools and the even have a 12v fuel line that is better then some 18v tools
I love Milwaukee, but Bosch is THE choice in 12 volt for me. Like others said, the compactness and light weight aren’t even touched by any other maker. M12 is a great line, comprehensive, powerful etc., but they’re slightly stepped down versions of 18 volt tools, not a compact line of tools.

Yea Bosch is more compact but Milwaukee is pretty compact as well. Plus Milwaukee has the biggest 12v line in tools over everyone. So you get small tool with good power and then the line up is great. Everything from receip saws to circular saw to pvc cutters thermal imagers. Everything. The love the 12v line up. Drills and sawzall a I have the 18v but I also have the 12v pipe cutter, pvc cutter ,thermal imager, the blue tooth speaker and the spot light they have is better then there 18v light.
Still a Bosch guy 🙂
Same here. I’d like to try the 12v Fein when they come around too.

I’m not sure I care so much about having any and every tool brushless. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Milwaukee Fuel impact, hammer drill, sawzall and 7 1/4″ circ saw, but I also love my brushed m12 tools too for what they do. My m12 tubing cutter and right angle impact have saved me so much time and headaches it doesn’t matter one iota brushless or not what kind of motor they have. I actually like my brushed hacksawzall over the fuel model because its size is a little more manageable and if I really need power I’m gonna grab my full sized fuel sawzall anyway. I never even thought about it but the funny thing is currently all my m18 tools I own now are fuel (brushless) models and all the m12 tools I have are non-fuel ( brushed). Bosch makes great tools and if they have what you need all the better. I do like the breadth of milwaukees m12 line though, so many mainstream tools and niche tools that makes it easy for them to relieve you of so much extra cash you may or may not have lying around ? After having a right angle impact for a few weeks now I can’t see how I ever got along without one. The m12 tubing cutter is fantastic, especially in renovating an old house where you can’t always access things easily, but the right angle impact is useful in so many places and even makes a great screwdriver with its medium weight 600 in/lbs of torque and even a fantastic ratchet replacement for assembling things too…

I’ll tell you…my m12 Fuel hackzall sure came in handy when I needed to cut a 1/4″ steel plate and be pretty precise, went right through it and I didn’t need to grab the full size saw…saved me a lot of clean up grinding.
I am vested in Bosch 12v line,i dont need a large majority of what the m12 line offers.
You could say I like Bosch 12v tools…[External image (uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com), not copied]
Later this fall they are releasing a new brushless OMT in the 10.8v/12v line with the new Starlock connector.
