We have been using the 20V line for a little while now and really like the run time and power of these tools. The DCS391L1 compliments the 20v line. The saw is ergonomic and durable, something we have to come to expect from DeWALT. The DCS391L1 has a magnesium shoe and uses an included 6-1/2 in. carbide tipped blade for cutting 2x material at 90 degrees and 45 degrees. The saw spins at 3700 RPM and can cut 0-50 Degree bevel with ease.
It uses DeWALT’s 20V 3.0 Ah Battery which give it a good run time. The tool itself weighs in at 8.4lbs and the overmolded rbber grip feels good in your hands, with or without gloves. The plastic guard felt a little out of place, I was expecting this be magnesium, but it worked well and opened smoothly on the cut. Eric likes to go crazy and rip through 3/4 plywood with every circular saw we get. A normal person would adjust the blade and carefully make a precise cut, Eric just likes to slap on the battery and tear through as fast as he can go till the saw stalls or he hits the end of the plywood. During this test the DeWALT showed off its integrated electronics and cut out preventing any damage to the saw. Some people like this, some don’t.
The DCS391L1 is a nice addition to the 20V line and some of the ergonomic handle design cues from are evident on this saw. The charger included with this kit can charge both 12V Max and 20V max batteries. If you already have a 20V Max tool this would be a great addition to the line up.
