We all need to place are tools some where so why not a new tool bag?! anything by CLC or Veto, any other ideas?

I worked with a buddy-handyman-friend on a few jobs several years ago. He preferred a 5 gallon bucket with one of those million pocket bucket jackets for his commonly used assortment of tools. Carrying the bucket around, especially up and down stairs or from one building to another got old fast. We conspired to make things a bit easier. The solution was to attach the bucket to a metal frame. The frame essentially added a ½” axle (just right for a pair of 8″ lawn mower wheels) and a vertical square tubular t-handle to pull it with. The tubular handle, designed to take apart (using a tethered clevis pin) just above the top of the bucket, was great for when he wanted to put his bucket of tools upright in the trunk of his car.  He had a dozen or so made and gave most of them away. I have one of them but didn’t appreciate his inventiveness fully until I got a bit older, the bucket got a bit heavier, and I got tired of running from a project back to the garage every time I needed another tool.

I’d like to attach a picture but can’t get the image thingie to cooperate.

This sounds like a very intuitive idea, if you can get the photo to attach I would really like to see the finished product.

That is an interesting solution…looking forward to a pic.

My solution….a big, soft shell, lunch pail my brother was going to throw away…lol

I lined it with some cardboard for durability, but it does exactly what I need it to, and it’s a good size. Not too big, not too small…and FREE!

I was thinking about the klein tool bag backpack what do you guys think on that one

If I’ve done this right you should be able to see a full and a close up of the ‘buck-cart.’

I pulled out the million pocket tool jacket, it needed cleaning out anyway, so you can see the basic structure.

I guess, without that jacket (and tools) it’s kinda’ like a miniature trash can on wheels. Don’t tell Homer.

The handiest part is the take-apart handle so you can easily put it all in the trunk of your Toyota Camry and take it to Grandma’s house.

Fully assembled it is 41″ high (17″ w/o the handle), and the ½” diameter axle is 18″ long with 8″ mower wheels and tap on axle caps. inside the bucket we used fender washers at the bottom and a fender washer over one of those 3″ x 5″ perforated splice plates at the top. The bolts are 3/8″ carriage with nylock nuts on the inside.

The bucket we originally designed to did not have those raised peripheral rings near the top which explains the shaped wood block I added just above the upper bolt.

That is pretty dang cool Highdesert! It would be really handy moving buckets of heavy crap around all the time and, you don’t need a big heavy handcart.

Purchased it, I have had it for 2 months and love it, TON of storage and is holding up very well thus far, for 70 bucks you cant beat it.

Love that cart!

The bucket cart is a great solution. Market that bad boy.

A nice toolbag to put all the new tools in sounds like a great idea to me!

I think a Klein Tradesman version would be pretty slick. They have a couple different versions now,…hacksaw, ultimate electrician etc.
