History: In 1924, Metabo Corporation established itself as a leading manufacturer of the metal boring drill, taking the German words for “metal boring”
— Metabo — as its corporate moniker. The company entered the North American market in 1970 as Ferrostaal-Metabo Tool Corporation, based in Long Island City, New York. By 1982, the company had moved to its current U.S. headquarters in West Chester, Pennsylvania a suburb of Philadelphia. In 1991, Ferrostaal-Metabo Tool Corporation changed its name to Metabo Corporation. Today, the company’s power tools — ranging from drills to rotary hammers to jigsaws — are used in over 100 countries throughout the world.
