Review
Milwaukee tools is no stranger to saws and cutting blades, after all over 50+ years ago they invented the original Sawzall, probably the most recognized saw in the world by name. With over 20+ tools in the M12 lineup an oscillating tool was inevitable. Lets start by saying Milwaukee has stayed true to its roots making one of the best oscillating tools on the market today. The tool itself is sleek has simple curves and a over molded rubber grip across most of the tool. It feels well balanced and comfortable.
On the left side of the tool is a battery fuel gauge that appears for a few seconds when you first power up the tool. Below that is a tightly indented variable speed selector with 12 settings. The on off switch on top is surrounded by an over molded rubber grip. This tool screams quality, we were very impressed by the entire build quality of the tool. The tool itself is powered by the third generation M12™ REDLITHIUM™ battery, overall we were impressed with its run time, we achieved over 15 minutes while cutting and sanding.
The first thing you notice when you power up the tool is the soft start, It spools up like a jet engine. We have seen soft starts on other tools, but this is the first time we have seen it on a oscillating multi tool. This feature allows users to get a feel for the tool and its speed before engaging in the application. Most oscillating tools are loud and the Milwaukee 2426-22 is no exception. To help keep you from self destructing the tool, Milwaukee also includes motor overload protection.
For out tests we sanded and cut everything we could find in sight, from metal to wood and plastic, the tool performed flawlessly. One thing I personally noticed was how easy it was to guide and control the tool, it sliced through a 2×4 like butter. We did use the included Milwaukee plunge cut wood blade, which we might add is a great blade for any oscillating tool. Milwaukee was thoughtful in including a universal adapter to use other manufactures accessories.
Conclusion
The Milwaukee M12 Cordless Multi-Tool 2426-22 is an impressive addition to the M12 line and proved that Milwaukee is the king when it comes to portable saws. Contractors will like the power, agility and run time of this tool while, the home owner will fall in love with its ease of use. One thing we would like to have seen was an LED light, as that is to be expected in today’s compact line ups.
