Forced air heaters have been around for ages and the deign has remained relatively the same. You need fuel and electricity to make them work, meaning they always had to be near a power source or generator. Well now Mr Heater is changing the game and ditching the electricity part, well sorta. By integrating a rechargeable power pack you can run cord free for up to 8 hours on one charge. This is the Mr Heater HERO MH35CLP Cordless 35,000 BTU Forced Air Propane Heater.
The previous heater I used in my 550 sq ft garage was a 55,000 BTU Kerosene heater, it did the the job but smelled and sucked kerosene like it was going out of style. The Hero is recommended for up to 800 Sq feet area which made it perfect for my garage. I hooked up my 20 lb propane tank, read the instructions and fired it up. Starting the unit is simple, turn on the fan, turn on the gas, slowly depress the igniter/gas button and hold for 30 to 60 seconds and you're in business. Always use proper ventilation when operation a fuel burning heater. The HERO has a one year warranty.
The heater was quiet and the smell was minimal. The outside temperature was 38 degrees and it warmed up the garage in about 10-15 minutes. The heater can charge the battery while running as long as it is plugged in. You get up to 8 hours of run time on a 5 hour charge and about 12 hours on a tank of propane that is connected with the included 10 ft hose. It is relatively small and weighs in at 12lbs which is very light for the 35,000 BTU's it pumps out. If you are in the market for a clean, quiet, innovative heater that you can tote virtually anywhere, then the Mr Heater Hero is for you. Eric and I both think this is a great product and it might even win the Tools In Action heater of the year award!
