NWI Laser Distance Measurement Device Model LSC 60

7

Today we are going over the NWI Laser Distance Measurement.  This is by no means a review, it’s more of an overview of a device we found a while back.  In fact, Mike Z would be the best to talk about this since he won it.  Now I would like to say sorry to Mike Z because it has taken me longer to ship out and as I sit here and write this overview, the device is sitting next to me getting ready to go into a USPS box.

We first saw NWI at a trade show a while back and at the time it seemed like their stuff was pretty cool.  So when Dan said we had a couple different items to review, I have to say I was intrigued.  Now I haven’t used this much except to take out of the box and talk about it.  I played with it for about a half hour.  Now on Amazon there is one review and that guy didn’t seem to happy, so it’s really hard to tell with just one review.

In regards to use, I do have to say I like this.  It’s very easy to use, plus it has a built in calculator which is very cool for a number of reasons.  As with the other measuring tools we have tested, this one is very easy to take a reading.  Just push the big button on the front and that’s it.  You can measure from 4″ to 195′ at 1/16′ accuracy.  So the range is large and from our measuring, it does seem accurate. You also have the option of mounting this to a tripod.  The unit allows the user to take six different measurements including area, volume and continuous measuring.

Now I know there isn’t much to talk about regarding this overview but I do want to talk about a couple of things.  First, the screen is large and very easy to read.  As I already noted, taking a measurement is easy.  Even the calculator function is very easy to use which can come in quite handy in the field.  I haven’t had this unit out in the field, so I am not sure how well they hold up.  NWI has been around for about 20 years, so that does say something.  You have to be doing something right to be around that long.

  1. I have always wanted an accurate one of these. I like the laser pointer feature to exact in on the point of the measurement. I have a Stanley model that does not have the laser pointer. It is good for estimating but that is about it.

  2. It’s ok Eric apology excepted you take your time ille still be here looking at all your daily videos on my daily routine walk into work 😉 can’t wait to put it to work once again thnx guys!

  3. I really want one of these, well, this type of tool. There are so many out there that it’s very hard to choose. I’ll give this one a try. You guys haven’t steered me wring with several items I purchase from your reviews. My fav is the Franklin wall sensor, love it till this day. Laters TIA

  4. That’s up on the things I would like to have is a laser distance measurement tool. The only thing is I want one that’s fancy and hooks up the the phone via Bluetooth. The NWI looks like a great durable tool though and wouldn’t mind having either!

  5. I used to have one of those I bought on ebay for 15, 20bucks for measuring sqft for carpet cleaning a couple years ago. But it didnt last longer than 3 jobs. It went broken. the botton for switching cm to inch not working at first suck on cm, then laser eye part and battery connection start acting up. That was the end of it. I like this one a lot. Love the calculator built in on the mechine. What a smart move. It makes the job much easier. Does the LCD screen lights up at all?
