Milwaukee Hooded Jacket – Stay Warm and Look Cool

Milwaukee Hooded Jacket

Winter is right around the corner, so it’s time to grab your winter gear and get settled in.  Everyone knows Milwaukee offers the largest lines of  heated work wear for the professionals.  They have a ton of different  jackets and hoodies to pick from.  While I love them all, I am a sucker for the Camo styles, but that is for a different day and time. Milwaukee first introduced their heated work jacket a couple years ago and they haven’t looked back.  Every year, it seems like they are adding more heated gear to their huge line up.  While I love the idea of heated gear and wear the jackets all winter long, I really don’t ever use the main feature, which is heat.  I have always been one who layers their clothes in winter time, so a battery was pointless.  Sure, I love the USB connection so I can charge my phone, but again, I really didn’t use it much.  If only they had an option for the people who want to look fashionable, stay warm, but don’t want to mess around with the battery.  Well you’re in luck, Milwaukee has a Milwaukee Hooded Jacket.

Milwaukee Hooded JacketI live in the Chicago area and while our weather isn’t too bad in the winter, we do get those days where it gets cold in the winter time.  We get streaks of temperatures being in the negative range.  I have to say, I love winter and it doesn’t bother me much, maybe because I grew up in it, but for some people, it’s hell.  Well I guess not hell, because it would be hot, not cold, but I think you get my point.  Okay, I have no idea where I am going with all this so let me get back on track.  For the professional tradesmen it can be difficult on deciding what to wear on a day to day basis in the winter time in Chicago.  Temperatures bounce around so much not only day to day, but hour to hour.  You could be inside one minute working in the heat and down in a cold basement the next minute.  So I guess what I am saying is most people in the trades use layers in winter.  We usually have a shirt, a hoodie and then a jacket.  Since the jacket is on the outside, that is what tends to get all the abuse, so you need something that will last you in these harsh conditions.  Well thanks to Milwaukee, it’s finally here.

When Milwaukee designed this jacket, they designed it with the contractor in mind.  The person who is getting dirty and putting their jacket to extreme use.  Milwaukee took a look at other jackets on the market and studied to see where these jackets failed.  The areas these jackets failed is where Milwaukee made huge improvements so their jacket won’t fail.  They provided this jacket with mobility so you can move around freely in your jacket.

The outer shell of the jacket is GRIDIRON™ 900D Ripstop Polyester, designed to withstand the toughest conditions.  The ripstop polyester will provide more resistance to abrasion and also prevent tears in high wear areas.  Here is the cool thing about this material.  While the material is tough, it’s lightweight so it won’t feel like you are walking around with a brick on your back.

Milwaukee Hooded JacketThe jacket as a whole is also designed to let you move around and be free.  There is nothing more irritating then when you feel like a jacket is too small or the jacket is constraining you from working.  Milwaukee added Mobility Zones across the shoulders and back to provide unrestricted movement when working overhead or in tight spaces.  Once you put on the jacket, you can feel right away that it’s a comfortable jacket.  The jacket moves with you, not against you.  I have never felt another jacket where the freedom to move around has been so good as this Milwaukee Hooded Jacket.  I always take my jacket off in the truck because I end up getting upset because I feel like a weak kid is trying to hold me back.  When I try to change the radio station, grab my phone or whatever, it’s just annoying.  This is the only jacket that I can wear in my truck and not feel like that weak kid is trying to hold me back.

Staying on the idea of being a tough jacket, the zipper is a full metal zipper that won’t break.  The pockets are not only reinforced, but they are riveted.  There are two large outer pockets, one sleeve pocket for a pencil or other stuff.  There is also a zippered pocket on the inside.  One great feature to this jacket is the sleeves and waist are rib-knit which will prevent that cold draft from creeping in.

The inner shell Material is Quilted Taffeta.  The jacket has a thermal fleece liner and insulation across the body which provides a wind and water resistant mid or outer layer to keep core body areas warm.

There are plenty of jackets to pick from for the tradesmen.  I have to say that this one is my favorite so far.  I love the freedom of movement.  I hate wearing a jacket when I feel like it’s a straitjacket.  While I haven’t had this in the dead of winter, it has kept me warm on these fall days.  This is a jacket that will allow me to layer and stay warm.  I love the look and feel of this jacket and sure it will last me a long time.  I like the idea that I can wash and dry this jacket without having to worry about ruining anything.  Now if Milwaukee only could find a way to heat a jacket, this thing would be awesome.  Just joking, obviously they have a ton of heated gear.
