When it comes to Milwaukee hand tools, you either love them or hate them. I am only saying that because when it comes to hand tools, there are so many people that are loyal to a brand. It’s like Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. While I can appreciate the loyalty to a brand, these copper cutters are something you should take a closer look at, even if you are loyal to another brand of hand tools. So check out our Milwaukee Copper Cutter Review, model 48-22-4259.
Before we start, I want to make it clear that I am not a plumber or deal with copper pipes all day long. For me, I do work with some pipe each year. I live in a neighborhood that is very old and almost everyone has galvanized pipes. I have already changed most of my pipes, but I have a bunch of friends that I help out when they realize they have some problems with their older pipes.
Milwaukee Copper Cutter Review – Overview
A while back we reviewed the Milwaukee close quarter cutters. We loved them and were very impressed with the quality. The new cutters aren’t any different in regards to quality. The cutters I have been using for the past couple of years are a no name. While they work, you can tell they aren’t up to every task. I really see the difference when I put them side by side with the Milwaukee.
Milwaukee has a bunch of cutters on the market but wanted to quickly talk about the Milwaukee 1″ Constant swing cutter.
Milwaukee Copper Cutter Review – Features
As with their other cutters, Milwaukee designed this with a robust metal frame that is designed to take the abuse of the job site. The cutter is designed with a 4 roller chrome design so you don’t have to worry about these rusting out after a couple of months. Also, the rollers help create a straighter cut by preventing walking.
There is also an extra blade a user can change. Get this, it’s a tool free blade change system.
Milwaukee Copper Cutter Review – Performance
A couple of items to note. The rollers are extremely smooth, something I haven’t seen in cutters before. The adjustment mechanism is extremely smooth and will allow the user to make adjustments for cutting capacity of 1/8″ – 1-1/8″.
I have to admit, the weight, feel and the smoothness just makes this tool scream quality. Just what everyone wants in their purchase.
Milwaukee Copper Cutter Review – Final Thoughts
Overall this is a great copper cutter. The tool is robust and very easy to work with. The rollers and adjustment are smooth. You don’t feel like you are fighting the tool. The most important aspect of the tool is cut performance. Since it’s very easy to work with, it makes it much easier to have a straight, clean cut every time. This tool is worth a purchase if you are in the market for getting your first or a replacement cutter.
