Klein has been making hand tools since 1857 and has become a staple for the electrician. The problem has been how do you carry all these tools around? As you guessed, the market is saturated with portable organizational solutions. Now Klein has added one more to the mix with their new bag and zipper pouch. So let’s jump in and check out the Klein Tool Bag Review.
Klein Tool Bag Review Overview
Think about how many tools you own. Let me guess you can’t count them. Now think about how many tools you carry in your truck, also you probably can’t count them. It stinks because you have to own the world of tools to make a living because the one job you get on, you will need that weird tool you have never needed before and that’s one reason we all have so many tools.
Even though we own a ton of tools, we always have those go to hand tools that we always need. Then there are those tools we will probably need for a job. Before you know it, we are carrying around an aisle at The Home Depot. We need a way to store, carry and protect them, which is exactly what Klein is trying to achieve with their Klein Tradesman Pro Wide-Open Tool Bag.
Klein Tool Bag Review Features
The bag is made from a 1680d ballistic weave which means it’s not only durable but lightweight. The bag has a total of 42 pockets, (9 exterior and 33 interior). This side has 3 exterior pockets that stay closed with Velcro. Perfect for meters.
- Length: 10-1/4”
- Height: 16-1/4”
- Width: 17-3/4”
On the opposite of the bag, you have three more pockets. One can be closed with Velcro and the other two are open for tools you want to access quickly or easily. There are two rings.
One the side of the bag, there is a mesh pocket for storage. The mesh seems okay in regards to strength, but not sure how long that will hold up if you use it for heavier tools.
The other side of the bag has a smaller mesh pocket and another open pocket with a place to hang your tape.
The bag features two handles that can be Velcroed together. The handles seem strong and will hold up no matter how much weight you put in the bag.
The bag also features a removable shoulder strap. While it provides good padding, I wish it covered more of the shoulder.
The bag opens from the top and has two large zippers, which makes it easy to open and close.
Opening the bag, you can get a great view of all your tools. There is a nice contrast between your tools and the orange background. Plus the bag is big enough to throw in a drill, impact and a charger.
On one side of the bag, there is a zipper pocket that extends all the way down the bag for paperwork or a small laptop. Plus there are a lot of pockets for your hand tools.
The other side features more hand tool storage plus two more rings.
On the bottom of the bag, there is a fully molded plastic cover that will protect your bag and your tools. This way if you set your bag down in the snow or water, you don’t have to worry about tools or the bag getting ruined.
Klein Tool Bag Review Stand-Up Bags
Another cool new storage option from Klein is the Stand-Up Zipper bags.
Klein has two stand-up bags which each one is a different color and size. The two-pack includes a 6-1/2 inch tall orange bag and a 7-1/2 inch tall gray bag.
The zipper is bigger than most which means you can open easily, even with gloves.
The bags are made from a tough 1680d ballistic material. This material is being used a lot in the power tool industry. 1680d is very durable and you don’t have to worry about tools or fasteners poking holes into this material.
The bottom is also reinforced to offer more protection against tools and fasteners poking through and ruining the bag.
The bags even stand up when nothing is in the bag. So even if you have some small parts, fasteners or lightweight tools, the bag will still stand up.
Klein Tool Bag Review Value
The bag retails for about $88 on Amazon. I know some will look at this like a great value because they get to protect and organize their tools with a durable product. However, others might balk at the price and feel they can get a bag for less expensive.
For me, I don’t think the $88 is too crazy compared to some of the other bags on the market in regards to what you get with this bag. Sure you can spend less, but that also means you will get less. Having a bag that protects your investment for $88 isn’t a bad deal. The bag is solid and should hold up for years.
The stand-up zipper bags retail for about $18 on Amazon which is a great price for two bags. The bags are quality and will make your job easier. So for $9/bag, it’s a pretty good bargain because these will last a long time, well unless you lose them.
Klein Tool Bag Review Final Thoughts
As with Klein hand tools, both the wide open bag and stand-up zipper bags are high quality. While I wish the shoulder strap was a little beefier and offered more padding, the bag itself is easy to organize and access tools. Overall both of these products are worth a look if you are in the market.
The Prada of tool bags. Can’t go wrong with one of those.
LOL, how true. For some reason I love storage and the bags fit.
