Milwaukee Warranty?

One of my plumbing techs sent in his M12 Hackzall and they wouldn’t cover under warranty so he didn’t want to pay for repairs. This is how it’s sent back.

wow, question is how was it sent in? most likely all together I’m assuming…..that is an older model was it within warranty time?

probably thought he declined to get it fixed just pack it up the way it is…….

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Wow. That’s pretty surprising. I’m sure that was a rogue employee and not a Milwaukee policy though. Not a good way to garner customer commitment. I have had to use their warranty services three times and was really happy with the service. Not happy I had problems but very very happy with the service.

It was in the timeframe but they’re claiming water damage. Which is understandable. He’s a PLUMBER.

it was picked up from our shop with about a dozen other tools. And yes, it was all assembled.

I’d clean it put it back together and send it in manually….to another service center…..

I’ve heard those have problems where water can drip in from a pipe you’re cutting overhead and fry it.  Silly since that’s the primary use of the tool but I’d heard they warranty that pretty well since it’s more a design flaw than abuse.

should come with some kind of deflector cover kinda like the very fine screen clips the fuel grinder has on the side

Man I’m surprised they bothered taring it down. Most of the time i seen swaps for brand new tools. That sucks though I have heard mostly good things about Milwaukees warranty service for the most part.

comp56Member since Sep 2014

was it sent in from a plumbing company or a personal person might have made a difference…..

Maybe someone was just having a bad day lol

yeah…. I may have done that with the PVC shears lol, but it was covered under warranty, probably because it was brand new. Lesson learned. They aren’t meant to be doused in water.

Like Chris, I too have had no problems with their warranty. But, I use their website, Milwaukee’s eservice to fill out warranty issues, so I don’t have to deal with centers, because they are unreliable and slow. It’s been a year since I have done that though, and that was a bad battery pack, just went bad suddenly.

Eservice

I would bet that if you used their E service they would fix it. Those local repair shops have some pretty dumb people in them half the time sadly. I had the same problem with my m18 hackzall. Seems like Milwaukee ttys harder to keep you happier than the local guys.

This seems true for the most part, but lately they have been doing good where we send them at work, just once in awhile we get the odd circumstance that they screw up a warranty and it takes 3 months to get the tool back.

Personally, I Just use eservice anyways

Bummer bro..

well if you have a local ma and pa shops take on the responsibility of becoming a certified service center they often employ some people that just go by what they think because they are not there to think so instead of doing the things right they just say sorry I can’t fix it. Another thing is some of these small shops can’t always rely on Milwaukee kick backs, ok so you bring in a tool buddy gives you a clean replacement then they deal with Milwaukee and Milwaukee say….whoa this is not covered…….the little shop is out the tool? or they wait for a payment to long so instead of dealing with it they just say nope not covered. deal direct with Milwaukee probably best bet!

Dewalt also returns tools in pieces if you pass on a repair. I had a recip returned under warranty coverage rejected because of water damage. I do not think I had more then 12 months on the recip and that claim of water damage was bs.

More than that, the business end of tools should really be completely sealed unless you have vents with enough airflow to keep water out.  I’ve had to cut things with the front half of a sawzall underwater with no problems

hathatylMember since Sep 2013

damn that thing looks like it got ran over on the highway

LoganMember since Jun 2015

That sucks I’m kind of surprised that Milwaukee would send it back that way

BMack37Member since Sep 2015

I bet if you post this to social media he’ll end up with a new tool.

ya I’ve seen some guys complaining and dude from Milwaukee say to PM him…..

I think the M18 Fuel sawzall is sealed to prevent just this dirty of water damage from cutting pipes full of water. It’s just a shame that the Hackzall hasn’t gotten the same treatment.

M12 hackzall is one of the oldest M12 tools.

I wonder if the m12 fuel is sealed

Scamilleri1228Member since Jul 2020

I recently sent in a m18 fuel sawzall for a repair. It is supposed to be the best cordless sawzall Milwaukee makes. I will be honest I am a master electrician and yes I use it for work, I don’t use often or beat it up. This is the second time I have sent my sawzall back both times without and warning the trigger stoped working and the light blinks. With the first repair the tool was replaced with no questions, this time I received an email saying it’s not. The tool is not that old and hasn’t been abused. They told me it’s not a defect and it will be $170 to repair the trigger. I am extremely disappointed, I have had a corded version of this saw for 15 years without any trouble but the chord-less one has been disappointing at best. Has anyone else had trouble with Milwaukee filings a claim? I have 2 drills, 2 drivers, lights,  circular saw, oscillating saw, grinder, SDS drill, propress. I would have a difficult time buying another Milwaukee tool if this is how they handle my warranty claim. Like so many, I use these tools to make my living. I do not buy cheap tools, when I have something broken and it needs to be repaired it affects my business. It’s bad enough I have to go without this tool, it’s worse when they will not honor their own warranty. I have called to fallow up on this and I got a recording.

Scamilleri1228Member since Jul 2020

I just got through to someone at the call center, they told me that the trigger is not covered by the 5 year warranty. Silly me to expect them to cover something like a trigger.

DR99Member since Nov 2012

I would reach out to someone on MKE’s Facebook page they are usually more willing to help a customer out. You never know and you might just get a CSR having a bad day.

EmmettMember since Jan 2022

I had mostly excellent service from Milwaukee. That’s why we’ve been buying them exclusively.

However my last experience was disappointing. A not old Fuel sawsall just stopped. I sent it in to the eservice location and waited. After a month I called.

I was told it was just put in for service.

The next day I was told not under warranty.

No explanation give.

The website is not easy to use and I get an something went wrong message.

I had to call just to get another email to pay for repairs.

Milwaukee is the worst to deal with for warranty items.  I purchased a brand new switch tank and the tank leaked from day 1.  For switch tanks you can’t just take it to their local repair site.  I sent it in as per their request after discussing how it leaked.  I got it back a few weeks later with a repair list of replacing the switch and the control knob.  Neither of which have anything to do with the tank leaking.  The note on the repair stated “looked worn”.  It was brand spanking new!

So I did the return rebuy thing and the 2nd one leaks….Now I have gotten rid of the box due to wife cleaning out garage.  So sending it is is gonna be a pain.  Found the leak underneath were the pump is located inside the molded tank cavity.  Sure enough there is a crack in there.

DeWalt didn’t ask much of any questions on a rolling toolbox repair I called in about.  It was their large one.  They just sent a new one straight away.  It has a “Limited Lifetime Warranty”.  Dunno if that is the difference or not.
