I’m an all around estwing guy but what’s in your bags/belts/boxes? Stilettos? DeWalts? Stanley’s, bostitches, Pittsburgh, vaughan, dalluge, or others? Lemme know what and why. Not in the market, just curious.

I have a husky that’s a knock off of a hart, very nice hammer, 22 oz all metal

Also have a estwing framing hammer that has a hickory handle, 24 oz

I like a heavier hammer.

I have 2 favorite hammers, 1 is an estwing and the other is an old claw hammer with a wood handle my father gave me about 40 years ago……..

Estwing and Bostitch antivibe for claw hammers,Estwing engineer hammer,Some circa 1990’s Craftsman ball peins with hickory handles, stanley ball pein with graphite handle, A large assortment of SnapOn deadblows.

NicholasShetleyMember since Nov 2013

I’ve got a couple of vaughns, an old estwing claw hammer and a few craftsman hickory handled ones. They are all ball pein except the estwing. I use the Vaughn the most though.

That graphite Stanley ball pein has been to hell and back for me. Love that thing. Super jealous of the snap ons.

Have a nice estwing I keep in my bag, main one, couple claw hammers and ball peins at home. Also a collins axe 2 pounder, I beat that thing up over the years

I have 2 Estwings, both are sort of bent. Its kind of dissuaded me from using them.  My most used hammers are a Mastercraft and Vaughan framing, both wood handle.  Ive collected others that ive used almost never or once.

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

Estwing. They handle wood framing, concrete forming and everything inbetween.

jswoger1986Member since Jan 2016

I have a 16oz stanly and a craftsman framer but I’ll be honest I usually just use my $8 plumb hammer I got from depot it’s 22 oz and works perfectly

Snap on dead blow for ball pein hammers then I have a 16 an 22 ounce estwing hammer. I have some other misc ones as well but not used daily.

overanalyzeMember since Oct 2011

I was an Estwing man for years. My elbow got tired of swinging the 24 oz framing monster. I switched to the Dewalt Mig welded hammers about 6 years ago. Love them! I have the framer and the smooth face. When doing finish work I have an old Stanley 16 oz smooth face.

I like the hart hammers

StercorariusMember since Dec 2015

Good to see so many other estwing fans. Surprised there aren’t any stilleto guys. Those are nice hammers but a little too pricey for my taste.

FazzmanMember since Apr 2014

There’s a few folks that have Stilletos, I think NER and Rego have one at least. The Snapon deadblows are nice, ive had mine for at least 10 years now,the handles are awesome. Good deadblows are a must have in industrial settings. Stanley compocast deadblows are pretty good too

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

I use my snap on hammer mostly for banging out Dents at the shop but for home use my trusty estwing is right by my side

Good question, have not seen him either. I hope he is ok. Probably has a bunch of jobs going on,or he is hiding from that gnarly east coast weather.

I recently got the DeWalt 20 oz. flat surface nailing hammer. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet but it has a nice weight to it and the distribution of weight in my hand feels very nice. Very comfortable

I can’t stand driving nails all day with estwing hammers. They make a pinging noise every time you strike the nail. Like a tuneing fork. Lol

Screws are expensive. They add up on big jobs. When your competing on pricing on jobs every cent counts.

Some people do. I had a guy that worked with us one time. Another guy had one of the pinging hammers. And near the end of the day we was on the 3 floor of this house. He asked the guy with the hammer. Let me look at that hammer. He was a younger guy. So he gave it to him thinking he was going to admire his hammer. Handed it to him. And took one look at the hammer and threw it from the 3rd floor into a thicket in the woods.

out of all of my career in the shop I only had one problem with a guy, he was a new guy and a couple days after he started I couldn’t find my square for the life of me…..it was black with gold numbers stood out like a sore thumb……as it was I noticed it on a bench of the new guy. I walked up to him and asked why you got my square? he say ^%&$ you that is my square get the %$^$$ out of here……I said let me look at for a sec, so he slide it towards me I looked at it and funny never seen to many of these and now mine is missing and you have one?….he says prove it….. I took the square and bend the short and long ends together threw it back on the bench towards him as said well your lucky I can’t tell if it was mine or not so you can have it….and walked away…. as it turned out the next day he was caught stealing 4 large metal bessy clamps from the tool crib and got escorted out of the shop….gone!……..one of the owner’s came to me and said is that the dick that took your square ……ya that was him……he said go get another one and give the receipt……lol that was my first year in the shop and was only about 18…..so for the longest time the other guys had a running joke that if you screwed around with my tools you’d get fired ……

PaulEMember since Mar 2015

i use the estwing you have pictured, but the black smooth face model. I also carry a stanley 24oz steel hammer. I like the grip on the stanley, but i like the angle of the claw and the weight of the estwing.

MillerzconstructionMember since Dec 2015

That’s one thing I can’t stand and will not tolerate. Is a thief.

Yeah didn’t think I was in the market and then this happened today… Two protos and three estwings,. Soft faced estwing deadheads and a shot filled proto dead blow, and a brass head proto dead blow. 140$ for all.

Nice choices bro,those look nice.

Hugh JassMember since Feb 2015

I have a Dewalt 20oz for demolition and a rare nail (hate nails, too old school for me), I love the grip out of 50 hammers I’ve held in my hand it feels best to me, and I like the angle of the claw. Also have a Husky deadblow for universal whatnot, love the lack of rebound.

Needles to say…I’m a cheap date.

A guy I used to work with called my 3# version of this my Keebler (like the elf cookie bakers) hammer

http://www.estwing.com/s_drilling_hammer.php

30 oz. milled face… I drove about 10,000 60d nails one summer with one (staking curb, mostly, but some sewer and some water lines)

http://www.estwing.com/nh_framing_hammer.php

Yeah my estwing 4lb engineers hammer comes into play the most. I bought all the deadblows so I could beat on stuff just as much and cause slightly less damage than that estwing.
BK13Member since Nov 2013

I need to get some dead blow ball peins from Trusty Cook…..

comp56Member since Sep 2014

I had a nice two sided hammer with brass on one side and polyurethane on the other but I have a feeling someone liked it better than me cause I can’t find it anywhere…..

I enjoy my hammer collection.

Vaughan 99 16oz rip hickory
Vaughan FS999L 20oz long rip fiberglass
Proto ball pein hammers (with the red paint head and stained red hickory handles)

I totally agree! I thought it was cool at first, as if I’m laying down railroad spikes, but after a while it gets annoying.

My go-to hammer is a 10oz hickory handle Stiletto. I always wanted a Douglas though.

sparky603Member since Jun 2014

As an electrician, a 20-oz straight-claw Estwing works for me.

Love my Ti Stiletto:

Photo from the original forum

its a decent size for big stuff and hits like a big hammer but is light enough you can choke up and use it for smaller stuff too. I have a titanium fetish…
