At first glance I’m thinking “eeh, not really seeing the advantage here”
I could just use a right angle drill or impact and have better control with a trigger I’d imagine.

Definitely cool but if I’m buying into another 12v line its not going to be ridgid.
If it was Milwaukee that put this out I would be more interested. Ridgid has been putting out some cool tools lately though.
I have the ridgid 12v drill and impact so this is a strong maybe.
Yeah u definitely could do it with a right angle and u would have to get another battery line
Ridgid haze a right angle impact tool for the job max multi tool

Have you used any of their nail guns (air or cordless)?Shuutr wrote:

Husky silent flow 99 @ HD
Dose not seem very compact. I think the m12 right angle impact dose a better job. This reminds me of the dewalt 8v gyroscope screw driver.
I’m sure there is a place for it, like any tool depends on what you are doing I guess…..the fact that it is available is great not sure I would open up a new platform for it….
Wrong color for me. Don’t get me wrong, I do have a rigid bench sander, just no cordless ridged tool.
I agree, if your in the Ridgid 12v line, then this would be a nice little pick up for you. If not, then look at Milwaukee, they have a good 12v line up.
This palm impact reminds me, I have the Milwaukee palm nailer, that thing is beast! I suppose little large, but its huge huge huge help in insanely tight crawlspaces where you’re kissing dirt and spiderwebs trying to get a hammer to clamp up a water line. Also just plain awesome doing nail clamps anywhere for that matter

The problem with right angle impacts and drills is the lack of leverage. Your hand is much lower from the area you need to apply force. This causes the bits to easily cam out. The solution is two use two hands which makes it very awkward in tight spaces.
The Rigid seems to place your hand directly behind the bit, allowing for easy one handed use and proper application of force.

Never had a problem with that, probably because anytime I needed my right angle, the fastener was just inside a confined space that a had plenty of leverage with as long a tool as the right angle is, i could apply the pressure I needed. Plus with the palm impact, there’s many times when the space won’t permit your hand in getting in there with the tool anyways

the old 18v nailer is very picky. I rarely use it. The new brushless set looks very tempting.KnarlyCarl wrote:

It looks cool but not enough for me to get into another 12v line, if there is any other 12v line I’m going to get into it would be bosch, maybe hilti if i find a deal on their set,
We definitely need more hilti at the TIA compound. I think it can keep up with Metabo quality and power.

Yea I like the looks of the 12v stuff, don’t want to drop over 250 for the kit though but if I ever see a screaming deal like Chris gave out i’d swipe that up.
Once you put a hand behind the tool I don’t think this is more compact than the makita impact driver. I can’t find dimensions for the ridgid driver, so this is based on hand, chuck, and bit size and wild guesses.
For me, the width of an impact gets in the way in corners more than the length. I’d rather see an impact in a drywall driver format more than something like this.
Yea even the dewalt and milwaukee impact aren’t that large either to save space, then look at the new m12 right angle impact and see how much tighter that thing is than the ridgid. Its definitely cool and pretty innovative just can’t see using this thing all day, not sure if i would like the pressure control of it.
I guess they just made it as a impulse buy, for home owners and people just starting to look into buying tools. And a tool for some one to talk about having around the water cooler at the office. Lol. No. Idk just rambling.

Or post on a forum!
Ok the little Palm driver from ridgid came today! At first glance it’s small. Really small. This definitely a very niche impact driver. Size and weight are good for small hands. It comes with 1- 12v 1.5 Ah battery. Charger and impact driver. And of course a life time warrenty as long as you register. This is meant for small jobs not for building decks. Need to test battery time and what screws it can handle. Here are some quick pics.
keep us updated looks as through it can come in handy….no pun intended …
You the man Glassey!! Looks really nice and compact
Yea looks pretty cool, go check your HD out they’ve had a 4.0 ridgid 12v battery on clearence forever who knows it may even penny out

The only thing I got for a penny from HD was a pool pump basket maybe 15 years ago

More than I have, although I don’t really go on the computer or activity try to get a penny deal, if I ever get something that rings up a penny that’ll be awesome but other than that it won’t bother me if I don’t, I’m not a hard core HD clearence junkie.
