So u guys haven’t seen me around TIA lately. There’s a couple of reasons for that, first I went from a night job where I was on the computer job more to a day job in a more critical area, plus I went from 3 days a week to 5. And second I started adding a fireplace to my living room, which is taking up all my free time. Another project where I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m figuring it out piece by piece.
On top of which added all the flooring u see in the pictures
Looks good dude id say you know what your doing

Love the mantle! Did you do it yourself?
Like everybody else has said, that looks really awesome man. If you don’t know what you’re doing you sure know how to fake it! Looking forward to seeing the finished product with the stone.

Great looking job man, love the river rocks
No got lazy with mantel, picked it up at a rustic furniture store.
looking good
Looking great! I been debating converting our wood burning fireplace to gas, since the hook-ups are ready to go. However, there is something I really enjoy about a wood fire.
Scratch coat done. Man didn’t realize how labor intensive the scratch coat was going to be. Had bicep surgery a few years ago and boy did this flair up the arm. Oh well on to the next step.
Wow looks great, what fuel does that use?

It’s propane
looks like a lot of work is going to pay off shortly…
Thanks
Looks good Chad! rake your time bro it’s your house and u don’t wanna strain yourself man.
Looks good.
It is coming along. Took a few tries and f bombs to stop the rocks from sliding off the fireplace. Figuring out the mortar helped.
Not finished but at minus 17 outside had to unwrap and fire it up
Almost there
That a horse sleeping on the floor? Lol

Jimboslice that is not a horse, it’s a Canadian German Shepard. I brought her back from Canada when she was a mere 20 #, she ended up out weighing my male Shepard by 40#. But she loves the new fireplace.
Nice dog man, good size!

The fireplace is done. Calculating up labor- figure I had 160 hours into the project. Not to bad for a novice. Figure I saved about $4000. Now I just have to finish the walls with log siding, like the rest of the room. It was a lot of hard work, but glad I accomplished it.
that is a smokin job, no pun intended……I like how the fake dog is even intrigued…….
In case anyone is wondering the edge were the fireplace meets up with wall looks unfinished. I actually created a groove there for the log siding to slide into. Hides the ends for a more finished look. At least that’s the theory anyway.
That’s funny comp
