I like the idea of getting the $498 chest because its a lot of tool chest for the the money but pretty much all the drawers are shallow ones
The 41″ version is $448 but you get a little more variety in drawer sizes
The normal 52″ really isn’t in the budget and isn’t that different from the other one except for the door where the smaller drawers would be.
Any opinions?
I’d get the yellow Dewalt one 😉
But all kidding aside I like the first one because I’m not a mechanic and the cabinet would be useful for power tool storage.
im really liking the first one a lot and the price is really good looking for a box this size, I do quite a bit of mechanic work from home so this would be more than enough room for my tools at home and like chrisk mentioned that cabinet on the bottom right would be perfect for keeping my bigger power tools in oh and plus sticking a couple of TIA stickers on that Beatch would make it look even better!! 😉
That’s right! I need a place for stickers darn it!!!!! My Dewalt top is getting a lot of attention I HAVE to get the bottom half now!!!
I haven’t been to HD in the past couple days but I read on stuarts site that they will be bringing these guys back out for the holiday’s and that bottom piece would make an awesome addition to your shop bro!
If it were me it would be the First one you linked. the cabinet area is awesome for power tools and such. My box has a similar thing, with a shelf in it,its very handy.
Of the two choices Within your budget I like the first one. It’s really hard thoe cause it all depends on the type of tools you have. I have a feeling you would be happy with either thoe. Just remember there’s never enough to space for tools.
I don’t think the shallow drawers are a bad thing, the metal on these are a little flimsy compared to others, even HF’s boxes…I mean they work well, I have a Husky box but I don’t know how well it will hold up to a lot of weight. You should take a look at the HF boxes, they’re surprisenly good. If I didn’t get such a good deal on my Husky box, I probably would have bought one from HF. I’m not sure how the prices on the HF boxes compare, I wasn’t pricing boxes that large.
Then you can buy Craftsman or Snap On logos on eBay 😉
I definitely like the top two boxes though, I’d lean towards that 52″ myself.

If it was cheap on clearance like last winter I would consider it.

I heard good things about Harbor Freight boxes but I would be looking at spending more than twice at HF the 56″ bottom is $799 and the top would be $429 I hear nice things but way more money than the Husky.

One of the HD’s by me has 22 of them

Ahh, I didn’t realize they were that much more, like I said I didn’t price those. What do you plan on putting in the box? You know, I was liking the 52″ but those smaller/taller drawers in the 41″ seem like they’d be nice. It also gives you some extra space for a cabinet or shelves.
I’m basic level back yard mechanic so some hand tools and sockets but other tools would be part of it like blades and everything I have a little cman tool chest that is just stuffed. I think I would go with the one with a door but its not like I’m ecstatic about it either.
The door locker part once you start using it I think you will end up liking more, its nice for power tools and other bulky things.
That’s what I figured Fazzman when I checked it out in person this weekend. I think I might move the Cman in the basement to hold those emergency tools yea know I don’t have the luxury of an attacked garage 🙂
I almost got the http://www.homedepot…3B1OS/206157894 one the last time I was at HD but I really don’t have anymore room for it. Love the way it looked though and at that price it is a steal.

I probably will end up getting that one its a steal of a deal for that price even better if I can get them to take 10% off Helps with the 6% sales tax we have in Michigan
I have the $598 52″ version and I love it. I use the large bottom drawer for a lot of the miscellaneous power tools. I use the smaller deep drawer on the right for all of my impacts and drills. I just stand them up and have everything lined up. I would rather have the drawer space then the locker. The drawers fill up pretty quickly.
………….get it Jason…..it’s calling your naaameeeeee…… Lol!! I’m really thinking about jumping on this one to bro.Jasonc wrote:

This is my current one, it’s been good to me but just out of space….
Mine is pretty much the same except Grey. It’s not a horrible box but i have just ran out of room.
I would get the 52″one for 498
Let’s see what is on the inside of that box Mike. As far as what box I would go with I would get the one with the cabinet for storage of power tools and possibly air tools.Bigmikez wrote:

Dude Nicholas I took almost everything out sat thinking this guy was gonna come pick it up 🙁 I have it on offer up app but been getting a bunch of flakes I’m gonna load some pics to craigslist next, I’m trying to get rid of this one so I can buy that husky if and when I get the husky I will definitely upload pics when I fill it.
Now the 41 is more interesting at $398 on black Friday, but I think I would still get the 52
Yea, the 41 at $398 is kinda winning out now. I though the one 52″ would be one sale/advertised more I don’t know if their stock is off or what but they have 21 of them in stock!! I’m almost tempted to see if they get clearanced out. That is a crap load of tool boxes to move!! Why does this have to be so confusing!!
My advice is buy the biggest you can afford when you pull the trigger. There is never enough tool storage. Waiting for to see if they get clearanced may not work in your favor but you never know.

Yea, Its a gamble I might not want to take 🙂
My Kennedy box is 41″ wide, its loaded down with all sorts of heavy things from precision pin gage sets, socket sets etc. I wanna get larger casters for mine, its a pain to move around if needed. I usually use some kind of cart or my Ridgid stack to bring stuff to the work area.
Welp it looks like the tool chest will have to wait the money I though I was going to have available had to go to other expenses 🙁
Came across the Dewalt 52″ box in HD today. It looked pretty majestic in the sea of black Husky boxes and the red Milwaukee box.
That sucks bro…. I hate when that crap happens man it never fails…Jasonc wrote:

Take a look around, I think HD has some deals for black friday, might be a chance to save a little coin!
I bought the 52 about month ago and looked for 2 weeks online and instore shopping, I was down for the 52 husky, so i came home and looked up coupons for home depot and found a add from black friday from 2013 that had the 52 on sale for 499, 100 off there was no date on add so I printed it off took in and they gave it to me for 499. Just a heads up for guys looking might try it another guy I know try it and they gave him 85 bucks off. Its a great box for money I know have a box for all the tools.
Ive gone to HD to look at both and I like the 52″ with the added drawers. Extra drawers you can always grow into is what I think.
Can the drawers on Husky boxes be re-arranged? I like this box
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-34-in-W-7-Drawer-Tool-Cabinet-Black-H347TR/205494688
but I want to have a deeper drawer on top to place my sockets (including 1/2″ drive deep) in Hansen trays….
