Now, I don’t know what to think. I am beside myself with glee for the win, yet with my wife beside me, I can’t help but wonder how I will convince her that I need more M18 Fuel tools.

You sell the 5 piece kit and use the money to buy the.m18 fuel

Good for you Doof! Congratulations dude!!!

DoofMember since May 2015

Thanks guys. Yeah I’m pretty stoked. It was an online giveaway on homefixated. I just registered while keeping up with their Milwaukee New Tool Symposium coverage. Just a chance thing. Pretty awesome. Only thing I’ve ever won. All of the tools are redundant (except the recip), so I’m not exactly sure what to do with it. Ideas?

I have had my eye on the Fuel Sawzall. Hmmm….

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

Congrats Doof! Can’t beat free tools

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

grats on that kit – thats awesome man

Nalu RashMember since Apr 2015

Congrats Doof! That’s terrific man!

Will these be the only Rigid tools you got?

I would probably sell it to get some more Milwaukee in my life

Whatever the case may be, I’m happy for you

Sweet Doof congrats!! Like everyone said before me free tools are the best tools!!

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Man very awesome Doof that’s so cool!! And like Toronto said if u don’t like them or plan to stay in that line sellem to get more Fuel tools 😉 Congrats on the win!!

Maxwell Tyler RayMember since Jun 2015

Sweet stuff man!!

the company that owns Milwaukee also owns Rigid..but as well all know if it’s not red…..haha

I am a fan of rigid for the homeowner..I’ve not read the fine print but they have lifetime battery warranty!!

But like most things that sound to good to be true…

I can tell you this about the LSA. My father in-law burnt up a Ridgid drill and it took 5 months to get it back.

There is also a YouTube video of a borderline retarded fellow who got so pissed off at the LSA that he made a video of himself destroying it with a sledgehammer

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

Ah, here we are!

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

To be fair, he wasn’t very happy before they arrived either

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

no matter what you win. it just makes you happy

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Exactly Madman and the Ridgid stuff is awesome. They make some really great tools and coming from experience the LSA is awesome if you register those tools. I had battery problems with my early and first Ridgid 18v tool but Ridgid did ,e good and got me better batteries. I think TTI makes good power tools and winning that next gen Ridgid set is a real blessing! Comes with everything you need Doof!

comp56Member since Sep 2014

there is way around it, you can’t beat free…congrats

ShuutrMember since Jun 2015

Awesome win

DoofMember since May 2015

You definitely can’t beat free It looks to be an awesome set, for sure! I’m still beside myself. The light integration in the drill chuck looks awesome. The 7-1/4 in. saw looks pretty nice too. The three speed on the impact is crucial too, not to mention 2000 in/lbs of torque. All in all, a really sexy set.

So, talked to the wife and decided that I’ll weight the Pros and Cons of keeping the set though it is completely redundant with my new Fuel tools (minus the reciprocating saw). If it doesn’t make sense to keep, other than to have a free kit and a ‘back-up set,’ I’ll either give it away as a gift to a friend or family member, or sell it for much less than retail to pass a kind of gift on to another person (maybe like 299 or something) and offset my original M18 Fuel purchases. It’s feels strange to say that its a pity this didn’t happen a few months ago before I bought into the M18 line. Still, I’ll take it as a blessing and a sign to keep on keepin’ on.

maybe return it for a store credit and pick up more Milwaukee stuff…….

just works when its an in-store item….for online items you need a receipt 😛

comp56Member since Sep 2014

exactly you tell them you lost receipt and get store credit…..if it is brand new and all there they will sell it…..

ChrisKMember since Dec 2012

Don’t do that for God sake!!!! That’s why prices keep going up on stuff! Sell it on EBay or here but don’t false return! They end up losing out the cash plus if they catch you doing it they could charge with theft by deception and that would suck big time! I’m sure you could sell it for a a couple of hundred or give it to a family member!

then they send you to the customer service desk and they ask you questions like, email address, phone number, mailing address to pull up the Ordernumber.

if they cant find anything you cant return it. they need the Order# to return online items. HD stores cant sell the online items in the store, they go straight back to the warehouse.

i dont know hows in canada comp but here in the states it works like that 😛

comp56Member since Sep 2014

I guess it is store by store

Wow, that is a level headed individual!! People get the LSA and Warranty on the tools confused with Ridgid and the steps you need to follow. You always find somewhere someone on the internet bitching that Ridgid did them wrong. I will say it was a convoluted system till HD rental centers took care of the claims.

thats a good one 😀

Congrats on the new kit.  All the reviews look like a nice set of tools for the price.  And for Free the price is even better.

Congrats Doof! And thanks conductor for sharing. I too had a bad experience with the warranty for a belt sander. I couldn’t stop laughing.

The LSA on the tools is cool the big thing is they cover the batteries. As everyone probably knows by now Batteries can be finicky and fail for no reason and are expensive.

Conductor562Member since Nov 2011

I don’t mean for my post to convey that I don’t like Ridgid, because I do and probably would have went Ridgid when I converted to Milwaukee 5 years ago if they’d had a more robust lineup. My Union Local gives away a Ridgid combo kit every year at my insistence and hell, I bought a Ridgid chop saw last week and strongly recommended the R4020 tile saw, I just think the LSA is a little over complex.

It would be nice to see minor problems handled in store

See if HD will return it for store credit. Worst thing they can say is no.

ShuutrMember since Jun 2015

I say use it.  Use the heck out of it.  Torture test it.  If at any point you think you wont use it, pass it along to someone else that hasn’t upgraded their craftsman or B&D set.

Enjoy the set!  Those X5’s look solid.

Who doesn’t like free tools, I really like the Gen 5X kit. I don’t know why but I always thought Ridgid power tools are more for homeowners. However I have a lot of there plumbing tools and I consider them top of the line.
