My new Trophy! Oops!

I had made a longer post with the whole story and my phone erased it. Here’s the short version.

Trimmed out my bathroom last month. Sunday night the wife tells me the garage ceiling is wet. A few holes later found the location of the water leak. Shut water main off and called my plumber. A few more holes and found the problem. I had shot the pipe with a trim nail!

Oops!!!

Now I hung it on my compressor perch so I remember how bad this hurt.

and thats why i install nail stop plates before drywalling 😛

Nail plates were installed (I was hoping to get my plumber for not putting them in, but he wouldn’t miss something like that). I shot too high, trying to work around my vanity legs. I’m laughing about it now, I think the laughter will stop once I get the call about the bill. Lol

You are not not first person or the last person to do that.

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

As long as I’m the last person to do it in my house I’m fine. I have seen it on the job several times but there is usually a plumber near by.

Nice trophy!!       what is a remodel without some good stories to tell afterwards!

Poisonfangs85Member since Feb 2015

Thanks John, I think I could write a book on this one. And if I did it would be titled “If these walls could talk…I would need ear plugs!”

NERemodelingMember since Aug 2014

Haha! that could be a good read

A screw in the water line is the only thing that could make this story any better

Are you not allowed to run your waterline through a 1900 box? Lol it’s amazing the stuff we find I’ve got pictures and stories for days!

I’ve shot a nail through a line before, then second guessed myself through the whole remodel. Took down a whole bunch a of log siding I put up just to make sure, there was no other spots.

oh wait a minute, so those holes in the box are not for copper pipe?
