Just spotted the new brushless 18v XR SDS DCH273P2 coming available in the UK soon!!!!

I am a little annoyed as it has only been about 2 months since I bought the DCH253M2

Any way there seems to be a new belt hook added to the new one!! Something I could have really done with a number of times over the past few months.

Still looks cool and I want one!! Just need an excuse for needing two SDS drills so I can buy one ;D

Here is a pic

I would send this on to Dan and Eric, but I think they have seen a lot of the new Dewalt stuff and can’t talk about it because of media embargos

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

Do u have an ebay over there, that’s what I usually do when I want a new tool.

RickyMcGrathMember since Oct 2014

Man…. That’s pretty sweet. I’d love to compare the specs and runtime.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

Looks badass!

DPSEliasMember since Mar 2014

I need this….I have been waiting for Dewalt to provide more brushless tools and I kind of need an SDS….

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

I would go cordless SDS just when the runtime gonna convinces me

What do you expected? Or what will make you buy

dano_ukMember since Dec 2011

I used this a few weeks ago, very nice feels very solid, it’s heavier than the older versions but it’s still a good weight.

Good find, where did you find it online?

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

Nice hammer. That’s like the 3rd model from that serie isn’t it? DCH253 then DCH254 and now a Brushless one.

That grey housing, is that magnesium, like the XRP drills for example, or is it plastic?

Looks really nice. Also from the Perform&Protect range?

midogrumpyMember since Jan 2010

also the “big brother” will be available same time (should be same specs)

dch274p2 (p2 = 2x 5,0Ah batteries)

so it has an interchangeable second chuck (drill)

at the same time in Europe the (January 2015)

dcl060 light

dcl043 flashlight

will be released

but still some secrets!

cheers

mike

dano_ukMember since Dec 2011

It’s magnesium

I think it does have a perform and protect sticker on it but I’m not 100% sure

dano_ukMember since Dec 2011

Come on mike give us some more

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

@KWC: I actually have no clue whats the runtime on cordless SDS tools, but I would rather go corded if a battery will just last 15-20mins

@dano_uk “I think it does have a perform and protect sticker on it but I’m not 100% sure ”

It is a PP product I am sure

@Mr. Yellow

I is no 4 in the serie. DCH243 – DCH253 – DCH254 and now the DCH273 and DCH274

@madman_us

DCH273P2 will give you, 90 holes at 10mm x 80mm per charge.

madman_usMember since Sep 2014

90 holes is not too bad at all

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

@ KWC. I meant 3rd update. The first one DCH243 then later the DCH253 + DCH254 (same model, only difference removable chuck) and now DCH273 + DCH274. Anyway, who cares 😉

It’s a nice looking drill and I didn’t expect a Brushless hammer so soon, because earlier on it was said brushless technology was not really suited for high drain cordless tools like hammers and circular saws. But technology is always moving, so it’s nice to see brushless technology in more tools.

DooDarMember since Oct 2012

dano_uk I found it on www.dm-tools.co.uk under Dewalt:- Dewalt brushless tools.

I noticed that they had changed the layout of the Dewalt section of the web site and sore the addition of the Dewalt brushless tools!! so naturally I had to have a look  ::)

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

This new SDS drill will have a dust extraction accessory that you can click on.

A bit similar to the 36v rotary hammer, but the dust extraction unit is much smaller.

So it really is a Perform&Protect tool 🙂

that looks like a great tool./ I have one of the older models.

I think its great. I only use it for a quick hole here or there mostly. usually when its not worth setting up a corded tool or if there is no power close at hand

I used it on site a while back installing dado trunking (the plastic boxing that sparkies use in offices  to run cables and mount boxes in)

I was only using 6mm plugs but putting them every 12″along it . I was very surprised at the run time. when im doing that again I wont hesitate to use it again

chadlanthierMember since Mar 2013

U just want to stop and stare for a while, and u won’t get slapped for it.

BigmikezMember since Jun 2013

I wouldn’t mind taking the scratched up one on the 😉

I’m really interested in this DCH274 to replace my old Cordless SDS, nothing wrong with the old one, just the batteries keep letting me down.  It’s time to upgrade and this is the one.

I’ve really struggled to find out about the Dust Extraction which was mentioned a couple of post back.  I’ve managed to locate this information on the web after quite some searching.

Strengths and benefits

Exhaustion ideal for dust-free drilling up to 16 mm in diameter
Recommended for cordless hammer drill DCH273 and DCH274
Independent engine maintains maximum power hammer without sacrificing durability
Power Batteries Dewalt 18V XR
High quality washable HEPA filter capable of achieving 99.5% efficiency with dust particles as small as 0.3 microns
Quick release for easy maintenance
Extremely durable for the most demanding applications
The compact design and light weight ensures excellent working comfort
Extraction continues in operation for two seconds after vypynutí tools

Scope of delivery

Extraction is supplied without battery and Hepa filters. You need to be purchased separately.

There is a picture of it on this site: http://www.exkalibr.cz/dewalt-aku-odsavani-d25303dh

and this Dewalt Promo flyer from the USA also mentions it: http://www.dewalt.com.au/DWBrochureStorage/Onsite/2015/Q1/20/ebrochure.pdf

I wonder how good it will be?  Do you think it runs off of the Tool’s battery pack, or will it have a seperate battery just for the dust extraction?

Mr. YellowMember since Jan 2011

It will run off of the tool’s battery. Makes no sense to use an additional battery just for the vacuum unit.

It’s similar to the 36v model, yet smaller. Just slide it on the tool and you’re good to go.

Samuel L.Member since Sep 2014

What is the size capacity?

Turner85Member since Jun 2015

Has anyone used this yet and what’s there experiences. Can’t find one video review of it on YouTube. Thinking of purchasing it soon

DooDarMember since Oct 2012

Yes!! I have ended up getting one after my DCH253M2 was stolen!!!        :

I would recommend it to anyone!!!!

Its run time is good for a cordless, but it does depend on what you use it for!! If you use a large drill bit then it will not last long!!

I used it with a 7mm SDS bit fitting door frames, drilling in to concrete block and one 5 amp battery lasted me all day!! (example of off and on use)

I also used it fixing bat straps off a wall plate in to a thermo block wall and I did 6 large houses and used 4 batteries and drilled close to 1000 holes using a 7mm SDS again (example of constant use)

When I go house bashing I us everything cordless. Due to the fact that there will be no power in the houses until much later on. And a generator needs permits, a drip tray under it and spill kit next to it!!! far too much to keep carrying around and setting up.

The way I get over the need for a corded SDS in this situation, is to just keep buying batteries until you have enough so you don’t run out of power before you finish or faster than you can charge the dead ones!! 😀

I have 10 x 5amp and 2 x 4amp batteries for all the tools I use and that seems to do the trick.

Don’t get me wrong, I have a full kit of corded and cordless tools. I just tend to use the cordless more for the freedom it gives!! and the corded for the intense and heavy work! (where power is available)

what would you use it for if you bought one Turner85??

Hope this helps

Thanks Doodar, finding it difficult to find a review on this tool at all. Must not be hugely popular or maybe because it’s relatively new.

My main use for this will be 8-10mm holes into solid block walls with the occasional bigger size. I’m also building myself a collection of batteries so I’d be getting this bare tool. Might just order the new finish nailer too since its been a good week
